TwoNotes GENOME!!!

Hmm, for me I can't stand anything that makes the tone sound less like it was originally intended.

Well, I was using EQs with real amps already, so I can as well use them with captures. And I've already found some lovely Ceriatone Dumble clone captures which are doing absolutely fine with a wide variety of tone/gain settings.

Same goes for organising IR's which is still kind of crap across the board.

Don't tell me. Line 6, you listening? <cough>
Seriously, it's tough to believe IR organisation was even worse within the HX family before 3.x (or was it 2.8 already?).

Fwiw, the thing is phoning home like mad, too. Startup time without internet connection = almost instantly. With internet connection it takes some seconds. @AmyTwonotes, your company doesn't impress me here, to put it carefully.

IIRC there was a way to download an offline license for it.

Yes. Did that. And Genome accepts it and loads incredibly fast once you disconnect your computer from the net. But once it's connected, Genome is automatically phoning home. I'm sure there's some ways to quarantine it (especially now that Logic doesn't treat plugins as a part of the program anymore but rather as an external process), but I'd rather not have to do that.

While I like genome, the startup time is abysmal as above. If you disconnect internet it starts instantly, but then you cannot use the store even if you turn the internet back on. Other plugs that phone home do not start so slowly. It makes me not want to use it.

What is it with all these NAM players and *zero* proper file organisation?

- When a NAM file is missing in Genome, the display is showing the file name followed by "(missing)". No option to search/relocate it. Not even an option to copy the filename so I could use the OS-internal search functions.

- When I want to add a new capture folder, on macOS I always need to start at the "user" root. Meh.

- No option to sort captures in folders after my liking and then select folders in the capture pulldown. So in case I have multiple capture folders, I need to "re-surf" them each time I want to load a capture from a different folder. Uber-meh! Do you expect me to have 96923 captures in a single folder and scroll like a mad man?

Seriously, it's 2024, not 1995. Companies need to get a clue.

Workaround : just open the file browser and run a search with that

Make a shortcut to the Genome CODEX profiles parent folder ?

I would love drop-down lists in Genome itself (just like in most DAWs for plugin selection), but until then i just create custom folders within the Genome CODEX profiles parent folder, and i navigate through those via the browser available in Codex.
I have made a feature request for drop-down lists in Genome, and the more people will make feature requests for that, the more likely they are to implement it in the near future.

I'd have to manually copy the file name. That's a crutch (and not a good one), not a workaround.

Sure. But why do I have to? Other plugins allow me to set one or a bunch of default/favourite folders.

Seriously, there's no reason this miserable UI (there's some more issues, such as the incredible waste of screen estate and what not...) could be justified. A company such as Two Notes must do better.

Didn't think about that... You're 100% right.

I agree it could be heaps better for the preset/profile management part.
Have you submitted feature requests ?

Can you please help a noob ?

any chance you could record a preset in Genome (any preset) and share the preset and sound here ?I want to compare it with what I hear....

Thank you.
