That tour was in 2000. I did another cross country in 2001 (just shy of 10,000 miles) and then one in 2003 (about 7,000 miles) for the HD 100th Anniversary. At the moment, not riding but "I'll be back"!!!Think I'll see how long I can abuse my new friendship before I plunk down anymore cash on motorcycle
related items.
Are you done riding, Moondog? When did you do your cross country tour you wrote about above?
I’ve always preferred Mobil 1 or Amsoil and still change it every 3000 or so even though you can go longer. The bike will run cooler with synthetic oil. Keep in mind the Harley brand oil is NOT a full synthetic oil even though they claim it is. Also, you may want to consider picking up a reusable oil filter. I put one on my bike and it made the bike run cooler as well. It’s made out of billet aluminum and the screen is cleaned by simply spraying brake cleaner on it. Another benefit to this system is that the oil filter does it’s job when when the bike is started unlike normal filters that allow everything to pass through until it reaches a certain point. Show some more pics of the bike please…Have all my fluids and filter on hand, so gonna give the girl a fresh drink of that bubbling crude today!
Reading about synthetic/synthetic blends/conventional oil differences and allegiances is like taking a
walk on the wild side. Man, are people some uppity fucks!!
Ha, I had a similar experience at one point changing the filter on my Springer! Ended up pushing a screwdriver through the filter to get enough grip to turn it!! And even there, if I recall correctly, I had to pierce it a couple of times because initial piercing was not close enough to the thread area and it did not give me the grip needed!!! As for the filter wrenches, I ended up liking the one that is like a vice grip (so a locking wrench with rounded grip areas made for filters). If you have not seen them, check it out ;~))Got 'er done last night. Holy fuck! Someone overtightened the Filter and I had to destroy it to
get it off. I must have wrangled that thing for and hour and 45. And 2 trips to the auto parts
place to get filter adapters/wrenches to try and remove it. Not one of the 3 worked that I bought
and tried.
Struck gold with a neighbor, though. He had one from like 1974.

I'm definitely a loner when it comes to rides.Gonna get a couple of rides in this weekend. All of my Buddies that were like, "Get an Harley so we can
ride are MIA!"
Fuck those guys anyways.
Yeah, man some people gorilla grip those sob’s real tight some times. Congrats on seeing it through!!! I’ve been running this Outlaw oil filter in the link below for years and can’t recommend it enough. Not only will it pay for itself after a few oil changes, your bike will run cooler/better and look fantastic as well. This is a direct fit replacement with no mods necessary. These guys have a lot of info on a lot of mods that will make a difference in how your bike runs and performs. I’ve used several of their mods with much success. Let me know if you are interested in what I’ve done and you can look them up on their website and see if it or other mods interest you. You ready to dive in the Harley rabbit hole???!!!Got 'er done last night. Holy fuck! Someone overtightened the Filter and I had to destroy it to

I never was. The way I feel about an MC was, for the amount of miles I'd ride in a year, engine longevity would be low on the list of things that would wear out or have problems over time. Plus, oil technology is extremely good these days, so as long as I kept up with oil changes, I never really thought it was necessary.Any of you guys into using any fuel or oil additives?
I always use top tier fuels and still will run a bit of Chevron Techron in a tank when I’m about 500 miles from an oil change. That stuff really cleans a lot of carbon in combustion engines, I can tell the old oil looks different when I change it. It’s also probably a topic where you will get differing opinions but I worked for a guy back in the early 90’s in SoCal who built outstanding hot rods including some Jet powered beasts that were stunning to see in action. This guy swore by the stuff and used it in his personal classic muscle cars that were still completely stock with no mods since they were new, one was a 71 Barracuda with a 440 Six Pack that was truly stunning and a 68 Camaro RS that was also a beauty. I started using it in all my vehicles as I described and like it enough to have continued using it all these years…Any of you guys into using any fuel or oil additives?
Check out STA-BIL Fuel StabilizersThanks, @-BOOGIEMAN-
I'll grab some of that. Probably will look into a fuel stabilizer since it
will be sitting from Oct/Nov until April/May.
