To hang, or not to hang?

I hang them high!

I am a bit shocked about the level of indifference so many people have to proper
moisture content, and/or humidity levels in their homes.

Cost is minimal. And benefits to our own health and our guitars is less abusive
and neglectful than not giving a fuck. :clint

I keep mine out (some on hangers, some on racks), because I enjoy them more that way. We also have a whole home humidifier that keeps things quite comfortable for us and for the guitars (we got it for us).

All the guitars I use regularly (which essentially are all that are in playing condition) are in stands or hanging on the wall. I want to be able to grab any of them quickly. These are workhorses and no museal items.

I would not let them hang in 22% humidity.

I live in N AZ so I keep the guitars in one room, in their cases, that I humidify. I crank up/make sure the humidity is at least 35-36 before I take them out of the case to play them.
When I’m gone they’ve been fine in the case even without the humidifier going, but I’ll put them, cased, in a small room/closet and set out some water in containers etc.

They are all electrics and have acclimated well, but I’ve had to file down fret sprout on a few over the years.

All mine are in cases. They all get played regularly. Not keen on wall hangers as
1. I live in an apartment, not much wall space.
2. Guitars on walls attract dust?!?!?!

Each to his / her own though. I suppose we all have our own preferences. 👍

I keep the house between 40-50% humidity and hang my guitars. I have done this for years with minimal issues. I do keep the acoustic guitars in their cases during the winter just because I'm paranoid. The biggest issue I have seen for guitars kept out is dust accumulation. On the other hand, fret wire and hardware seems to tarnish faster for guitars kept in the case.
