Timbuck is still using Edge Browser, will be interesting to see what they bring to the table?

I mean, c'mon back at ya

your first post on this forum is to (maybe) entirely misquote a response from Fractal that you (maybe) got by way of an email that we don't know really exists (maybe)....

a bit sus in my view
I really doubt there was any intention to deceive or malign. We could split hairs about the use of quotation marks, but I think this was just a case of shorthand mixed with (I'm guessing) English being a second language? It's as much on us if we read anything too damning into the reply (which is presumably factual anyway.)

FWIW, Tefun's observation supports the overall response to the OP up to that point: that the flagship Line 6 products remain more affordable than FAS for a lot of customers. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm not saying FAS owes it to anyone to lower their prices, let alone tackle international trade policies they can't control... I'm just sayin'.

P.S. "We sell thousands unit per year (sic)" is exactly the response I would expect if I emailed Cliff directly telling him how batshit his UI/UX is. ;)
Well for the moment we don't really know what the prices are gonna be in France.

Yeah, I have no doubt Fractal gave a reply that was a somewhat more polite version, of "Sorry, but we are selling enough units to not give a fuck about price complaints."

Dude, I'm trying to help you out here. ;)

Seriously though, assuming prices scale per existing products, my point stands. I think? (There are some wildcard variables I'm not allowed to talk about, of course...)

I'm getting more "Doug Castro vibes" here.

Cliff would be in the lab with an oscilloscope, a PC, and a few amps - nary a touchscreen in sight.
you might be right, there is no evidence of 'cliff chase in a hotub' on any social media platforms.... but I bet after every NAMM convention they all go back and have a big party like it's the 80s, hotubs with loads of bubbles, touch screens everywhere etc....

Oh noes, Fractal was big meanie head again. Surely the paraphrased quote was a true reflection of what was said in the emails because never in the near-20 years of FAS being a company has anyone ever once embellished upon a story about big meanie head Cliff blowing his lid over something completely innocuous.

Like the Camp Survivor who didn’t like the way the scroll wheel worked, promptly sold his AxeFX and shares his horrible experience on the FAS forum every chance he gets, years after the fact. That dude totally didn’t go on the FAS forum and state how stupid it was that the unit did not work the way HE wanted while refusing to push one button that would deliver the exact function he wanted.

And that time Cliff called someone a chucklehead, that was straight up egregious! How dare he use such inflammatory language when a far tamer word can be utilized! And don’t even try to say he was just joking around, them’s fightin’ words!

I heard one time he posted a meme to tell someone they had reached peak stupidity, I bet that guy didn’t chase Cliff around from forum to forum trying to tell him how to do his job and that he was incorrect about how he did so, for years. Cliff surely just picked someone at random to tell them how dumb they were!

At this point, unless I see it with my own eyes, I don’t buy it because there’s been ample situations where someone has not gotten their way with Fractal and railing against Cliff/FAS Forum/Fractal owners becomes a personality trait for them, precisely why they’re deemed Camp Survivors.

That’s enough from me now, I’ve got an email to write to Gibson because they surely don’t know their guitars cost WAY more than I feel they should. Ya’ll can thank me later when they realize their error and adjust their prices.

Hell hath no fury like bored people with internet access. :D

Just keep in mind that Fractal stuff would cost considerably more in North America if it was distributed through a retailer rather than factory direct.

That might be true, I'm not sure how it works in the US, but without any knowledge into distribution, surely it must be possible to have different distribution methods (direct vs retail) in different regions?

News flash, for a small business in the US, there are over 300 million potential customers in 50 states that are easier to sell to than anyone else located in other countries. Many chose not to sell overseas if they have enough domestic demand. If they want to sell internationally, they need to deal with all sorts of laws and regulations that vary by country, or they can deal with a distributor who will handle all the logistics in exchange for a slice of revenue. In this case, Fractal is offering their products through a channel that is adding 400 euros to the price in order to make the arrangement worthwhile for everyone involved. If you don't like the price increase, buy something else or setup your own import business and see how cheap and easy it is...or isn't.

But is it really 300 million potential customers? That would require a majority of US citizens to be interested in buying guitar gear. Fractal specifically. I mean, at some point you're gonna saturate the available market, the only way to increase your sales is by expanding to other regions. For the record, Europe has around 750 million in population, more than double that of the US, so if we're talking about *potential* customers, Europe is a pretty big market (albeit with bigger legal and distribution hurdles to solve).

I think Gibson guitars are a poor balance of quality and price, and you know what I do about that? I don't buy them! You know what Gibson does about it? They sell to nostalgic Boomers and others who do value a Gibson guitar at the prices they are asking, and then they sell a bunch of Epiphones to Dave.

I am sure Line 6 and Fractal will both do just fine selling next gen products at the prices they decide, and I am even more certain neither of them will give a shit what I think about their pricing.

For a small business in general yes, Fractal no. BUT Fractal is a niche company. They sell a very limited number of products to a very limited audience. I think you are missing how small of a business Fractal really is! They are far from saturating the US guitar market, let alone the US bass and other instrument markets. They have shown no real interest in chasing increased sales and becoming a big business, but if they did want to grow, expanding in Europe is only one option of many for them to grow.

I work with a ton of businesses, and it might be surprising to many, but the vast majority of them limit how much and how fast they want to grow for a lot of different reasons.

I wasn't actually serious about Gibson; ergo: ;) You won't catch me spending $4K on a Les Paul, but that's mostly because I think Les Pauls look like end tables. Meanwhile, Gibson/ Epiphone have products all over the price spectrum, for just about everyone. (Aside: LOL @ Gibson selling "a bunch of Epiphones to Dave.")

Mesa/Boogie on the other hand... they have some nerve not shipping me a MkIIc+ for $750. :hmm

;)
