The Official TGF Mesa Rectifier Appreciation Thread.

Today I spent a good amount of time with the clean channel. I gather that with the Single Rectifier Mesa was able to overhaul the clean channel on the Rec series and then further models also had better cleans. I have nothing bad to say whatsoever about the clean channel on the single rectifier - it’s warm and fat and chimy. Perfect for edge of breakup and bluesy tones imo.

'92 rev. f - currently loaded w/ sylvania green label 6l6 quad to 'soften', then set amp hard [ss rec, boldacious] =\

I love playing/finding/using non-traditional approaches on amps that most people
tend to use in a very specific and one-dimensional way.

Nothing wrong with either approach. History has proven that over and over. I just
think there is a shit ton of territory that goes unexplored.

Back in the day many got pissed Marshalls didn't have a dedicated
"clean" channel. Uhmmmmm...... hello???!!!

Those super saggy Tube Rectifiers in a Mesa can work magic---whether someone
is using 1, 2, or 3 of them.

The single does not have a tube rectifier, just solid state 🤙

Dont get me wrong it's a crazy good cab and is still one of the best trades I've ever made but does anyone find the oversized 4fb slant/straight cab to be a little too bassy with other amps?

It sounds really good w my recto but w my katana I have the bass knob almost on zero it's still super bassy lol. I heard that mesa intentionally matches their amps to their cabs so it makes sense. It's not horrible or anything and I think i can still improve it w some deeper dive into the EQs.
