The Official TGF Mesa Rectifier Appreciation Thread.

On my plate is to try the MW clean and pushed modes through Fender-y speakers in open back cabinets. I’ve like how the cleans sound through V30s enough that I never looked into trying out Jensen-type speakers for lower gain.

I kind of want to hear what the Modern mode sounds like through C90s.

FWIW I have an oversized 1x12 with an EVM12L in it that sounds awesome with my revision G. The V30 definitely isn’t the only game in town.

This is tight.

Band Im working with brought one of these in. Been a few years since Ive played a 3 channel triple. Absolutely rips.

Absolutely as good as my 2 channel and multiwatt. The 3 channel ones are a slightly ifferent flavour but deliver the goods, defo the ones to go for while they are out of fashion.
One of my favorite amps. I used a 3 channel triple for a long time. Pretty easy to do a series mod on it too if that’s your thing.

Glad to hear it! I got a triple nipple multi watt because it was too cheap to pass up and everyone was saying the MW is great but glad to hear the 3 channel non multi watt one are good. Good time to snag a Rec if you are looking for a non "special" one for sure.

Really curious to open this one up to see what valves it has in it because I’m blown away. Can see it has 6 STR 440’s in the poweramp.

Getting the vintage modes sounding as good felt harder/more finicky than the Rev G or MW, but the modern modes on orange and red are just killer even with no boost. Sometimes the MW feels a bit grainy to me (using a boost sorts that out) whereas this one doesn’t have that. Maybe it’s just down to the right preamp valves hitting a decent level through the preamp. Will try and shoot some clips of this before the band takes it back. Did about 5 seconds through a cab thinking the MV was pretty low and it was loud AF

IIRC there is an early version of the 3 channel that some folks have reported preferring so they can apparently vary. I forget the specifics exactly.

I’ve seen sub $1k 3 channel duals stateside a couple times recently and been tempted. That’s a lot of versatility for the money. I also struggle with the vintage mode on those amps, FWIW.
