The Official Friedman IR-D leaked on GC (thread)?

Did you ever try the IR-X?
Nah. Doesn't interest me in the slightest. Too modern high gain-y and I already have a problem with that with what I gravitate towards anyway  The IR-D is (theoretically) forcing me into keep things dialed back to more appropriate for the stuff we do levels.

RIP Love Shack D’jent Edition.

You thinking of some sort of OD + IR-D + VP4 setup?

I'm going to do something dumb at our show this weekend. @Baba will twitch with the amount of gear I'm schlepping

I'm thinking IR-D with VP4 in it's loop. Power amp modeling engaged, no IR/cab block in the Freidman out to my FM which is acting strictly as a digital mixer/IR player. GM will go in one loop, IR-D in the other and I will switch between the two as needed. Out 1 with Boss IR as needed to FOH and out 2, no IR to my LXII into my 2 EVH112 cabs.

I'm not building a board for this. Just laying out pedals on the floor with spaghetti in front of it and multiple OneSpot adapters :ROFLMAO:

@JiveTurkey Seriously, I have to stop myself from buying the IR-D every single day. No joke. Don't know how I can last much longer. It just matches my tonal aesthetic, plus it's kinda fun.

You may shortly kill my GAS though, if you soon make a negative pronouncement upon it using your famous "T" word.

Id love to see a gig picture of it in its final form.

I don't think it will turd. What it does (to my dumb mental hangups, at least) is provide power amp modeling that I can tap directly vs. grabbing a feed off the FX return of the Badlander where's basically all preamp and a Boss IR going to FOH  I don't think I will actually be "solving" anything but I am always up for trying \m/

This is our first time at this place. Probably a dumb time to be engaging in shenanigans but I'm probably going to roll the dice anyway :bag

Exactly!

My interest in the these pedals doubled once they announced the power amp revisions because that was my main gripe with them. Friedman listened and resolved all my quibbles. Now there's little stopping me, except the wish to spend less money on gear.

Cool, curious what you think of it after trying!

It's a very cool preamp pedal with solid power amp and cab modeling too. I do think the IR-D would likely be a better fit for me but the IR-X is still very good.

Oh BTW I have the IR-X back hooked up in the loop of the Axe 3 so I can rock the Fractal effects and use it to switch channels via MIDI over scenes. With the new CC functionality and faster switching times it works REALLY well.

Frankly I'm impressed with the development on the IR-X. They fixed the switching times early on and then overhauled the MIDI so you can do CC in addition to PC. Plus the new modeling engine and IR's. It's hard to think of anything that competes with these devices for these particular tones.

Oh I bet. I am not @la szum levels of anti-Friedman but I am in the vicinity certainly. Started when the whole Placater thing was made to be such a big deal and I was not impressed. Really at all. The Atomic Friedman iirc was fine but nothing outstanding to my ears. That plus the 110 pound $1200 powered speaker and I was about as anti-sold as you could get with something :ROFLMAO: I do think these IR preamps pedals are a KILLER idea and I am hoping I can get some great sounds out of the IR-D. My own semi-dumb pre-existing bias' duly noted.

I'd also be curious what you think of the IR-D compared to the Dirty Shirley amp model in the Fractal. I love the DS when I hear videos of it but the Fractal model always sounds a bit dark and tubby. Could just be the amp modeled or that the starting point like a JTM needs to have bass dropped and treble boosted.

I like the idea of the DS in the FAS and I know some people love it. But I can't seem to get past the JVMs or the Rectos  :ROFLMAO:
