THE MOST IDEAL MUSIC

Really? Bummer. :(

Yeah it was weird af and not what we were expecting in the slightest

And before any presumptions hop on

No it was not even tangentially political rants , nor was he seemingly drunk

Just a monumental douche to proportions I’ve never witnessed with a musical act

Very strange tbh

Not performance art? He does seem weird like that..... and decidedly non-rack starish. :idk

Those late 70s and early 80s Blazers and Broncos were the shit! :love
Definitely. I wish I had that Blazer. My older brother had a 70s (forget the year) teal green, convertible Bronco for a while. That was pretty sweet.

I mean… I guess if being a bizarro world cringe diva combined with making anyone from all walks of life hate you in unison is the desired performance art…

Idk. Shit was very whack. And I’m into subversive art lmao

Most unexpected concert I’ve ever attended

In the hippy community, cake also has a very bad live performance rep due to their show at all good fest… accounts I’ve heard line up. Enough for me to deduce the singer sucks ass as a person :idk

So you're saying he's a fruitCake?

Made me look. And now I know 1000000x more about John McCrea than I did when I woke up this morning.

Seems like a cool guy who sometimes gets disillusioned during his own performances and acts like a dick. :idk

I haven't looked either. I've never been an avid Cake listener other than knowing their popular songs so I don't really care what he does.

I've only ever heard their one or two radio hits. I actually think those songs are really cool; I just never followed up and listened any further. Because, you know, they're not Black Sabbath. :D

But there are at least a thousand varieties of "douchebag" and the posts above made me curious. I can already surmise that this guy (when he's being a douchebag) is the sort of douchebag whom we wouldn't be able discuss for 10 minutes without breaking forum rules. And the sort of douchebag who can't catch sight of a cellphone without launching into a wearying monologue about mindfulness. (AKA the exact same sort of douchebag I can be when I'm not being sufficiently mindful LOL.)

I almost wonder if its supposed to be part of the "schtick" :idk
I read a transcript of his going off on a Bay Area audience. Not sure whether this was comparable to your experience seeing Cake, but it read more like "highly intelligent, (over?) earnest person with features of clinical depression" than "schtick" to me.
