The Great Christmas Freeze/Blizzard/Squall/Ice Storm 2022

Seen someone say this on facebook haha.

"This is that weather that makes you feel like it’s 1805 and you need to write home!!
“Dearest mother, I haven’t seen the sun in many a’ moons. The frigid air chaps thine own ass..”"

We didn't get much snow but it's pretty cold and windy.

Def not storm of the century around here at least.

Great day to make beats, play guitar, and wrestle with the kids. Probably will eat an edible later lol.

Our power held all night which is good. Bout time to drag some space heaters into the garage for a while. (Water line in the garage is historically the first to freeze/burst) Otherwise just cold as hell.

When I first came to Canada, the St. Lawrence Seaway blew my mind. I'd never heard of it. Amazing that you can sail a ship all the way down past Montreal, through the great lakes to Chicago; it's incredible. 🤯

Chicago! All that way inland! Wow.

It was really cool, watching them basically close off two bodies of water where the sea level is different on each side; the boats would come in, they’d raise or lower the water depending on which direction the boat was going, then open the gates and let them out. There’s a huge hydro power station there that was really cool to see. Huge ass cargo ships, not little boats.

I was religious about that. Get done gigging at 2AM and often I would have an hour or 2 drive home in
a shitstorm of snow and ice in the winter, and I always brought my amps and guitars in no matter how
whooped I was. Cabs not so much. ;)
Absolutely!

I may have drunk shoveled last night at 2AM. :idk

I have to keep up on the shoveling or else it will be too much for me to deal
with if I wait the 3 days for this to end. If that means going out in the middle
of the night after some beers then so be it. Besides, there are worse ways to
go than dying stiff as a board in a snowbank.

We made it to Québec City. We got a hotel. Not our final destination, but that's enough driving in risky conditions for tonight. Bleh.

The drive was very touch and go at times... cars and trucks in the ditches everywhere, very poor visibility with high winds and all the precipitations: heavy snow, freezing rain, sleet, you name it. Going to sleep through the rest of it (hopefully) and continue in the morning.

I just remembered to bring my cordless batteries inside, and put a trickle charger on my diesel truck. It was 55 yesterday; now it's 17. It snowed overnight, but turned to rain in the AM.
