The Fuzz Thread

Watched a bunch of videos. Not bad for sure - but in most videos, I miss some of those, hmm, shall we say "vocal" mids.
Would like to buy 2nd hand, but maybe I'll just add one to my next Thomann order so I can easily send it back.
Do you mean low mids or upper mids? The Carcosa has more flexibility in the upper mids than say a FF where it seems to be more low mid focused.

Likely some lower end-ish mids.
2:30 (should be spooled) gives a kinda decent impression, but there's been more of what I mean at the gig):

That sounds like it has an octave down added to it. The Carcosa has a high cut so the lows are pretty low if needed, but just in a different zone than a FF style.

Spent the night playing with a Grind Customs Supernature. It's a 1976 Jumbo Tonebender clone, it feels like a really great big muff had a love child with an older tonebender. I bloody love it.

The JTB is only two components away from a B&M fuzz unit, that's the Edwyn Collins Girl Like You fuzz, so it's got a switch to go between them.

Gonna check it out at band rehearsal levels on Friday night.

Been playing with this circuit for almost 10 days now and it's rapidly becoming my favourite fuzz. Doesn't clean up like a FF but it also plays nicely with buffers, wah or anything else that's in front of it. The harmonics are crazy good.

I think you'd like it... wish I'd tried one much sooner tbh. Seeing you like building fuzzes, it's got a few interesting things going on that set it apart you'd probably appreciate. I don't know exactly what those are but it could be a dual circuit with a 250 mixed in there? Maybe Tom Cram explained it before somewhere.
It does well into modeling too, if you happen to go that route sometimes. I'll run it into a bf bassman or marshall variant with great results.

Finished up the carcosa tonight and I like it. I think. It's pretty late so can't crank it until my kids at school tomorrow.

I went through a fuzz phase and went through a lot of different pedals. The two that remained are my Sun Face NKT 275 and Dice Works Muff Diver Finale. It's a shame that Dice Works wasn't around long because this pedal is wonderful. It has the Cornish mods and does the Gilmour thing nicely.
Admittedly, the Sun Face sat in my drawer for a long time as it wasn't pairing well with a variety of my gear. I finally found an amp that I like with it and am absolutely loving it now!

Always wanted to try one of those NKT sun faces. I had a BART sunface for a while that was pretty awesome

My favorite FF is still the EQD Dreamcrusher though. Not sure why they discontinued that :( maybe parts related

I hate to say this in a Fuzz thread but the thing I love about the Sun Face the most is that the soft clipping sounds very amp-like. I'll let myself out of the thread now. 😁

Any chance of some gut shots of both of those?

Fuzz pedals don't get more glorious use than here:

Also make sure to listen to at least the ending of the last tune to see what a monster player that guy is (his bandmates, too).
