I also need an octave fuzz. I always loved Satch’s Fulltone Ultimate Octave tones. I might just snag one of those at some point because I know it’ll do the thing I want. Prices seem to vary considerably on them.

I’d also dig a Roger Mayer Octavia, I dig those obnoxious formats just like I do Fuzz Faces.

There's probably a TON out there I don't even know exist, but I always go right back to Satch's '96 G3 performances of "Cool #9" where he's using it a bunch, when he's not using the Whammy pedal.

You guys should get a green ringer clone like the EQD Tentacles or the Mythos Argo. That way you can turn any drive/fuzz pedal into an octave up fuzz/drive.

Gonna throw a shout out to the MXR Slash Octave Fuzz that can do Octave Down and Up,
and they can be switched on/off/blended to give you just a Fuzz... or a Fuzz combined with Octave
Up, Down, or Both..

Used for $100 bones it is a ridiculous pedal with a lot of tonal options beyond the standard Octavia thing.

Dave; it means that that guy's videos are the equivalent of watching a food channel that should be dealing in delicious food dissect the preparation of a $1.79 cheeseburger.

I am not spending my free time building up a channel's views when they're not playing anything with any demonstrable skill, showing off interesting gear or exhibiting anything resembling an engaging personality. That guy posted here, no actual engagement other than to post videos of gear that no one in their right mind should give a fuck about or bark at someone because they didn't gasp in awe of his Temu guitar review.

Any recommendations that's more in the classic realm, with or without a few tonal options? Fwiw, I love the Wringer Fuzz in Helix, which is a modded FS-2 apparently.

Danelectro Eisenhower.

Discontinued, but pretty affordable on the used market.

It's based on the FZ-2, I have several octave-up fuzzes that are Superfuzz-derived, and the Eisenhower sounds/responds more "alive and breathing" than the Idiotbox Ron (Fucking) Swanson and has no reason to hide from the EQD Fuzz Master General.

Going by photos, I expected to cringe at the relic aesthetics, but they look fine in real life.

I love my HBE UFO, but they can be a bit pricey. Other FTM-based options are the Danelectro 3699, WA Foxy Tone Box, or Orange Fur Coat, for example.

Great song. Funny story...
This was around '97, me and the band (3 pc) were living together in a rural area of the FL panhandle, and one night we and another group of people all took acid late one afternoon and commenced to party and jam the rest of the night and into the morning. We were on this big property with acreage and around sunset we were out in the yard trying to catch these little worms that were in these tiny holes. The best way to catch them was with a piece of a grass seed stem. (we were trippin', what can I say, lol). We called them chicken worms. Anyways, we were back in forth from inside putting on different albums and doing what trippy people do haha, at one moment I put on that Satch album and Cool #9 came on. Everybody was grooving to it, and that little clanky rhythm throughout the song was making us laugh like crazy for some reason, so after every phrase we'd all yell "Chicken worm!" in unison.
So every time I hear that song I think of that night and the chicken worm riff.

Thanks, I remember a few of those but will refresh my memory and look them up.

Doesn't have to be switchable octave either. I remember liking the tones from the Visual Sound Angry Fuzz when those were out years ago. Should have picked up one then. Although I see one on Reverb for $145.

Regarding the Eisenhower, I'd really recommend that one if you're a big fan of the HX Wringer.

Both are based on the FZ-2 and have the same control layout (vol/gain/bass/treble + voicing toggle), minus the boost mode of the OG FZ-2.

I'll try and see if I find the time to A/B them during the next few days. If so, I'll gladly report back.
