The Best Tones of YouTube

My Buddy and I fight about this all the time. I am like "How about you listen to some actual
fucking music?" and he is like, "Watch some Youtubers, dude!"

:hmm

I just can't be bothered with the whole YT'er thing apart from Leon. There is so much great music
I have not been exposed to. And great music I want to hear again. That's why I started playing
guitar. Anyone remember that??

Not hating. Just saying. :hugitout

There is only so much time here on Earth and my days grow shorter with every passing one. Not
much of that is going to allocated to some dude staring at my face.

Haha! I'm with you in general. This is for a very narrow application for me, only for when I'm dialing in tones to have a cool ballpark to reference. I get so lost in my own world of tweaking the knobs forever that I can easily lose real playing time. If I've heard a great tone on a YouTube video, it's easy for me just to turn knobs until I'm in the ballpark, then I know it's a tone I already think is great, and I can then abandon the tweaking and really play. I've spent just too much time obsessing, and having a tone goal from an external source keeps me from entering the tone rabbit hole.

Damn, I forgot Rabea.

I mean, Ola too, but he doesn't exactly have the widest RANGE of tones, lol.

Not sure if anyone remembers this guy’s videos from way back in the day, but I always loved the tones he had going on. Good player too.

Prolly the Tubbs guy.
Fun fact: I thought Tubbs was actually Nielson
with a haircut!!!
I REALLY did.
Between those two,
-how much better does it need to freakin’ be?💯

If you're looking for players to watch, Babysaster cops every tone she plays. And she is a stellar player! Fascinating to watch her play. (To me.)

This is her, just guitar, playing BATM, but she also has vids where she records all the parts. Every song she plays is simply amazing!

On first listen this sounds too close?

Well, how about....

Ben Eller
Stel Andre
Simone Biancon
Alex Ward
Alessandro Zilio
Ozielinho

The last 2 names do their rendition of "Cry For You" by Andy Timmons...leaves me speechless everytime !! :chef

Fair enough. However, I find the guys like Michael Nielsen and Pete Thorn are not only good content creators, they are pretty great composers too. I love listening to both of their intro songs they come up with for each piece of gear.

If that stuff doesn't qualify as great music, then I don't want to live on this planet anymore lol

Also a good part of the YouTube thing is utilitarian for a lot of us. We watch them to see if we really might be interested in a specific piece of gear or whatever.

This is usually what I do while I eat breakfast.

Also part of it for me is pure entertainment. I would 10/10 rather watch a YouTube guy spend an hour going through a new product and demonstrating it's capabilities, rather than watch something popular like The Bachelor or a drama.

Too bad my wife doesn't share that view with me 🤣

Sam Vilo, he seems to do like a stream of consciousness jam that always inspires me to get out of my rut.

And Doug Rappoport. I saw a Bogner demo I think Helios or Atma he threw down some improv of Stones and the Who that made the amp sound way better than they really do

And there was a guy who had really over produced amp demos. Stone floors, great lighting and photography and made his voice over narration sound like a pompous FM DJ from days gone by but he got really great tones from the gear. ‘Dave’ something I think. Haven’t seen him for a few years now though

Blake Mansfield, our very own @MirrorProfiles gets very nice tones

Dude, no kidding. I was just really taking a good listen to the channel. Just fantastic all the way around. Thanks for the recommendation.

@MirrorProfiles Thanks so much for offering a free FM3 Preset pack. The tones on your channel were so great I had at least to try the teaser. This is a showcase for how fucking incredible your IRs are. It was very cool alley to be able to analyze your Uberschall preset to see what you did forensically to get there. Greatly appreciated.

Pete Thorn
Andy Wood
Euge Valovirta
Blake Mansfield
Ola Englund
Alex Chichikailo
Leandre Gomes
Rick Graham
Shawn Tubbs

These guys don’t miss. Basically everything they put out sounds fantastic.

You prolly know exactly what I mean when I say we need bodies over alarm clock instrument/gadgets.
The hard work is the taproot.
Where the fuck else can you find it?
Let’s go, I’ve devised a french fry divided diet
for the road dogs.
(MINUS Rudger Hauer in “The Hitcher”.)

Maybe I am nitpicking. I just find it bland and boring and that's on me, I suppose. :idk

I totally overhauled my daily routines after bouts with mental health being eroded via
too much time on social media, and then I asked myself, "What have I loved my entire life,
and what am I replacing it with?"

The answer, "Music."

So I begin my day with music and coffee, and by music I mean .... full band albums and songs....
but mostly albums. I am an album guy---not much into the "I wrote a riff to showcase this pedal"
music guy. Just not my bag. Not saying it can't be great. I just have less than zero attention span for that.

And I totally agree, in the grand scheme of things it is superior to the Bachelor and Real Housewives.
