I can’t imagine all these pedal makers thinking “okay, we could snag an amp-modeler pedal that will be bone simple for everyone to use and cost us maybe $300. Oooooooor we could buy a Quad Cortex for $1800 that will be off putting for more than a few folks” and ALL of them going the latter route. But who knows.

The Strymon Iridium used to be everywhere too in these setups. I don't know why the HX Stomp never got quite NAMM popular in the same way.

I'm guessing the QC is popular because it's still relatively compact but will also appeal to high gain players.

IMO the Iridium is in fact the perfect companion for typical trade show booths - just that it's lacking of any metal capability, which likely makes it a no-go for many guitar vendors.
 
People got it great at NAMM now, when I went in '11 it was still a bunch of dinky practice amps or some shitty headphone setup that just wasn't ideal for hearing much of anything. And really shitty headphones that were just beat to hell by Saturday.

(not a diss, I include myself in that group :grin)

Does anyone know/care about the QC's checkered past outside of that very small (but obsessive + long-term grudge-holding + relentlessly vocal) demographic?

Nothing to do with the QC itself. Just assume a lot of folks walking up to a pedal maker booth would be put off by any all-in-one "menu diving", "optional paralysis inducing" multi-effect device, be it QC, Helix, FM9, whatever.

Which is why I assume they have a few presets dialed in nicely and can just fire one of those up for you.

BTW it seems like NeuralDSP just never showed up based on Kohle Audio Kult's video where he said he had been there for two days. NeuralDSP just decided to be ballers with a SOON sign.
