The Annual NAMM predictions rumours thread 2024

Zoom is releasing new multistomps... The already launched MS-50G+, the MS-200D+ (distortions), the MS-70CDR+, MS-60B+ and one new concept for them: MS-80IR+... They say it'll be amp and IRs multistomp.

I'm actually interested to see whether they upped their amp game. The drive box might be interesting, too. Latency of their MS devices is almost spectacularly good, so you should even be able to stack 2-3 of them. Too bad they have no EXP in on them, otherwise the MS-50G+ would be a no brainer for me.

Yeah, I'm curious too.

I don't like the lack of cab sims un the 50G+, though.

Look at it this way.
When I was at THD we always brought extra stuff. Since a bunch of guitar builders and pedal makers asked for amp/cab set-ups for their booth.
That was no biggie since we shipped two 500+cu.ft. Freight crates we piled on top off.

But I would have thought thrice about shipping new gear there if we weren’t attending, waiting for it to return to sell them as demo/factory seconds.

And in those days it actually still mattered if you were showing.
I can’t imagine all these pedal makers thinking “okay, we could snag an amp-modeler pedal that will be bone simple for everyone to use and cost us maybe $300. Oooooooor we could buy a Quad Cortex for $1800 that will be off putting for more than a few folks” and ALL of them going the latter route. But who knows.

There's this updated flat panel speaker thing with "FRFR", preamp, cab only, and amp and cab modes.

Quite interesting. But 1,500?

Why do you think buy? Borrow.

The Strymon Iridium used to be everywhere too in these setups. I don't know why the HX Stomp never got quite NAMM popular in the same way.

I'm guessing the QC is popular because it's still relatively compact but will also appeal to high gain players.

Hahahahha maybe that's what it was, NDSP walked in there, saw all the QC's with only headphones plugged in, then walked right the fuck back out. :rofl

IMO the Iridium is in fact the perfect companion for typical trade show booths - just that it's lacking of any metal capability, which likely makes it a no-go for many guitar vendors.

People got it great at NAMM now, when I went in '11 it was still a bunch of dinky practice amps or some shitty headphone setup that just wasn't ideal for hearing much of anything. And really shitty headphones that were just beat to hell by Saturday.

Do you think that's the case for anyone other than ex-TGP D&M forum nerds?

(not a diss, I include myself in that group :grin)

Does anyone know/care about the QC's checkered past outside of that very small (but obsessive + long-term grudge-holding + relentlessly vocal) demographic?

Nothing to do with the QC itself. Just assume a lot of folks walking up to a pedal maker booth would be put off by any all-in-one "menu diving", "optional paralysis inducing" multi-effect device, be it QC, Helix, FM9, whatever.

Ah yes, makes sense.

Tell that to the drum section!
