Sweetwater now carries... Suhr *

How is gibson over priced? I mean I think all brands are overpriced these days but I'm struggling to see how Gibson is worse than any one else

For the longest time they had the most affordable USA built guitar on the market with the LP tributes (awesome guitars btw)

PRS would like a word.... (and I say this as a massive PRS fanboy)
ok, here is the most recent and clearer example:

Hey if you want a Floyd on that, that'll be an extra $1000.

"Locking Tremolo Setup Labor", dontcha know. I got kids ta feed.

Those aren't guitars for typical consumers. And you can pull similar examples from PRS, Fender, etc. etc.

Silly CS pieces for billionairs and collectors dont really apply to the normal consumer conversation imo
Non the less, its one of the most extreme overpriced pieces Gibson brands have to offer, there are plenty more in the Murphy lab section and the USA section too.

Even today, the Epiphones have started dipping its toes in the ridiculous pricing.

Exactly. There's a perfect example of Gibson fuckery.

And who the fuck is "Jason Isbell" anyways?

I'm all for capitalism (biz owner myself) but there is a line between "fair price for a fair deal" and "fucking the shit out of someone".

I don't care much for his music personally, but Jason Isbell is a pretty famous and well respected musician and songwriter. He is easily deserving of a signature model as any

The MIC epiphones with veneers for $1500 + definitely bug me.

But in terms of standard production line instruments, I think Gibson is pretty in line with the rest of the market for better or worse :idk Gibson always gets called out for this sort of thing a lot more than anyone else doing the same or worse

So what's happening here is another roughly $1.5-2K padded on top for "labor". That better be the finest motherfucking luthiers in the world imported from goddamned Leichtenstein working on that shit at that labor rate; which you know damn well it ain't.

well it was that good, it has been that good, but as they scale up volume you know it won't stay that way, like PRS S2 beveled Kia garbage.

the tone is quantifiable in sustain and resonance, it all boils down to very minute techniques in how base materials are treated (dried) and assembled (press fit + glued), and the resulting vibrational transfer through the whole assembly. ie cnc tolerances, and how much resulting pressure is holding in the frets, the nut, the tuners, the neck pocket. you don't get that tone out of warmoth or Gibson stuff for one reason, there's basically not a much mechanical pressure between materials. ESP Japan, kiesel, Anderson, Suhr, all share a resonant characteristic, from two things in common, wood dried out extra crazy and sealed up, and components assembled tight af

This is only partially true. Quality materials that fit well do not benefit from “tight af” 🤣

um like $1300 epi's & squires choking the CL's of the planet b/c the sellar saw those prices on reverb ?
uh whats next "medical Heroin" ?

Whats trajic is theres a whole generation or 2 that think Jason Lulubell is famous.

I think its probably more amusing if there's a generation that thinks he's not

I'm not convinced thats the case though because his music appeals to geezers mostly as far as I can tell :idk

Isn't Suhr going to have to ramp up production, to keep up with a high volume retailer like Sweetwater?

I really need to play a worn in Suhr, because I have probably played about 7 or 8 of them, off the wall, and NONE of them felt like a $4k guitar, or what an off the wall PRS feels like. They APPEARED high quality and looked great, but didn't play that way in my hands.
