Sweetwater now carries... Suhr *

Suhr are killer guitars, some of the best instruments I have own in my 32 years involve in owning guitars. I opted for the T style ones, to me, they are the best ones to get.

This are my monthly drivers.

My biggest issue with Suhr is the resale
bloodbath.
Especially with expensive Moderns.
They remind me of PRS.
Very pointy, too edgy.
I need a broken in Jean jacket not a suit.

You forgot the free candy. Or did they cut costs there, too.
I do use SW for sevral things and they do a good job. Would never buy a CS Gibson or similar i have too many better options. The sweet tarts & dum dums go right in the trash. Im not a 5 yr old at the dentist.

I could see myself savin’ up for an Andy Wood Tele. I’ll partscaster my own first, but for some reason I really love his sig and it doesn’t seem out of reason to want it, even though I scoff at the idea of buying a Strat for more than $1300.

Whisky Barrel or Iron Man finish? I dig the Iron Man Red.

Suhr guitars cost more because they spend more time on the details. They use quality hardware ,electronics and the wood choice is premium. If that is not important to you buy something cheaper but don’t pretend it is as well made.
If you want a great guitar for less your are going to need to find something that the fundamentals are all there and do the fine details yourself. I do this all the time. Find a Charvel or something similar with no issues and do all the extra fine details and handwork yourself. I can detail a Mexican Charvel as well as a Suhr as long as I got to cherry pick it.

Out of my Price range for sure, but bear no gripes, if it sells and people buy them, then all good

Yeah.

There is no way in hell a combination of standard woods+fancy top, typical hardware and setup/labor combination for a bolt on super strat with no fancy inlays etc can actually cost $4K...

That's just a number pulled out of someone's ass.

You can do the same type of guitar with Warmoth; prolly cost you maybe $2-2.5K top end. Go try it out on Warmoth's website guitar builder.

So what's happening here is another roughly $1.5-2K padded on top for "labor". That better be the finest motherfucking luthiers in the world imported from goddamned Leichtenstein working on that shit at that labor rate; which you know damn well it ain't. And before anyone complains, nobody's saying it ain't good workmanship. It just ain't 2K good (which doesn't really exist).

Whether or not people choose to accept that number as authentic is another story...

The main point here is, consumers have the power to control the market and prices with many items; they're just too fucking soft & lazy.

Today, there is no other brand more over priced than Gibson, they are completely insane in every corner.

Yep, they are *the* worst. And have been for over a decade.

Gibson started this fuck-priced guitar domino effect.

They started raping consumers, and the consumers willingly bent over, and PRS, Fender, Ibanez, Suhr, etc all saw this and what *they* could get away with, and jacked up their prices. And on and on it goes...

And why did this happen? Because soft & lazy people just accepted it as the "way it is" instead of giving them all the middle finger.

How is gibson over priced? I mean I think all brands are overpriced these days but I'm struggling to see how Gibson is worse than any one else

For the longest time they had the most affordable USA built guitar on the market with the LP tributes (awesome guitars btw)

PRS would like a word.... (and I say this as a massive PRS fanboy)

And by the by, I totally dig John Suhr. I own his ISO Line Out Box and Reactive Load, and they are both high quality products that are somewhat reasonably priced.
