New Friedman Brit 50

The whole thread could devolve into a circle jerk about not spending more than $1000 on an amp though.

Honestly the boutique stuff is all priced pretty similarly from what I can tell. The 50 Watters are all in the $2500-3000 range and the 100 Watters are in the $3500-4000 range. "Just get a Marshall" well the 1959 modified head is the same damn price at $3850.

The one cool thing with Friedman is I have contacted support and then Dave just personally e-mailed me back to answer my questions. When I contacted Suhr support they were really helpful too and sent me wiring diagrams.
What's boutique these days?
I mean Soldani, Friedman. Egnater are all made by B.A.D. but are they still boutique then?
Especially when they own Soldani, Tone King and Egnater.

Have you been to BAD? It's not as big an operation as many seem to think it is. I guess the definition of boutique is up to individual interpretation, but in the grand scheme of things, they're a small business. A company like Fender sells weekly what they sell in an year, maybe more.

Seems like the Smallbox is GC exclusive and Sweetwater has the Brit 50… looks almost identical with an extra 800/Plexi switch but missing the Thump knob of the Smallbox.

Maybe they’re hoping people don’t notice and buy both 😂

Boutique is when you are directed to a 5-star suite, with dusky hand-maidens feeding you Turkish Delight and Champagne - as the in-house platinum album selling endorsee runs through his paces on your limited-edition prospective purchase that the guys have been making for the last 2 years. One size fits all - you lucky peasant.

Realistic is when you share a joint in some dusty backstreet workshop, with a crusty old git that never has any dope of his own. He pulls out your dream project, and plugs it in. It’s taken a while, but it’s finally ready to take home - after months of visits and revisions, and bucketloads of your best weed.
You can’t play over 0.1W because of the neighbours, and he’s usually out of milk.
He walks to the tube-station with you afterward, and gets on a different train.
