I’m with you Likit!

the Atlantic got fired. Not because it was bad or dumb (it’s a good pedal) but because i was finding myself constantly tweaking it every evening for two weeks. And yall know im sensitive to that nowadays. If im tweaking im not being creative. So im taking things even further now aiming for pedals that does a “thing” very well.

So i decided to revisit an old pedal, the last one that was lying in the drawer. The Obscura.

I bought this one back in -15 and used it for a while in the band until -18 when I went all in on Helix. It got boxed because all the delays and shit in the Helix did approximate it quite well.

But I fucking forgot how great this pedal is at one thing. And that is mainly a very degraded/grainy/mushy/modulated delay. And the beautiful way it can do chaos/noise.
Love it. And it kinda leaves place for something more although it looks narrow, might have to move around stuff. I’m def gonna look for another delay though, that does the pristine clean thing. Need that to.

To be continued.

I have a DigiTech stereo delay that does what that does and it is still awesome, and it is from like 2009....I keep going back to it.....the lack of midi is what keeps kicking it off ...but on a simple lite board it would come back in a heartbeat.

They are awesome pedals....there is another one similar style that is way cool too...cant remember the name....but yep DigiTech/DOD always!!!!🤘

Also.
....already changed the board again.......but I truly think I'm done now....it's portable now, and that is a bonus.

I always liked the Obscura and Polara. Some great sounds in those for not a lot of money.

Yup. That whole series is great! :chef Ventura Vibe, too. And the Hardwire Series that predated it. Also, killer!

I wonder what Tom and the fellas at DOD/Digitech are up to? :idk
BTW, I haven't worked for Dig/DOD since July 1st, so I have no idea what they are up to. Some of the stuff I worked on will be coming out over the next couple of years, but my time there is done. I am full-time Spiral now.

Dang. I missed that. I thought he was doing both for a time there. Short-lived reboot, I suppose. :idk

My ancient RP-1 has an over drive that's called Rock Tube, sounds exactly like a Tom Scholtz Rockman. If I gain stack the Grunge distortion and mix it with Sustain distortion and EQ it a certain way way I can recreate a EXH Big Muff or 1980's Rat Distortion pedal.

I can do the same to get a Tube Screamer or a Boss DS-1 or any other distortion pedal.

All I have to do is get an A/B box and switch between the distortion, overdrive or fuzz pedal go between my effects processor's distortions and the pedal I am trying to emulate and next thing you know, I got the pedal emulated in my three effects processors.

First iteration of my new pedalboard.
I moved away from pedalboards in 2018 and now I'm "back" because I felt the need to go this route with my current band.

I'll probably replace the marshall switch with a smaller one with a detachable cable and add a patch bay (under the board I guess).

Maybe I'll add a couple of pedals in the future since there's some space left. We'll see.

Board structure is a Palmer pedalbay 40
Power supply is a Palmer PWT 05 MK2

TC Tuner, Mxr uni vibe & PzAmp clean boost are in front.
TC delay and PzAmp Focus Boost are in the loop.

Pzamp is a small Italian builder.

The pzamp Focus Boost is a passive volume pot that is disabled when pedal is "engaged" (led is on). I use it as a volume boost for solos.
Basically I keep the amp (20W jubilee) volume reduced for rhythm and turn off the reduction for leads.

I've made him build it for me when I had the 100W jubilee because these amps don't like volume boosts in the loop.
