SHOW OFF YOUR PEDALBOARD!

BTW, I haven't worked for Dig/DOD since July 1st, so I have no idea what they are up to. Some of the stuff I worked on will be coming out over the next couple of years, but my time there is done. I am full-time Spiral now.

Dang. I missed that. I thought he was doing both for a time there. Short-lived reboot, I suppose. :idk

My ancient RP-1 has an over drive that's called Rock Tube, sounds exactly like a Tom Scholtz Rockman. If I gain stack the Grunge distortion and mix it with Sustain distortion and EQ it a certain way way I can recreate a EXH Big Muff or 1980's Rat Distortion pedal.

I can do the same to get a Tube Screamer or a Boss DS-1 or any other distortion pedal.

All I have to do is get an A/B box and switch between the distortion, overdrive or fuzz pedal go between my effects processor's distortions and the pedal I am trying to emulate and next thing you know, I got the pedal emulated in my three effects processors.

First iteration of my new pedalboard.
I moved away from pedalboards in 2018 and now I'm "back" because I felt the need to go this route with my current band.

I'll probably replace the marshall switch with a smaller one with a detachable cable and add a patch bay (under the board I guess).

Maybe I'll add a couple of pedals in the future since there's some space left. We'll see.

Board structure is a Palmer pedalbay 40
Power supply is a Palmer PWT 05 MK2

TC Tuner, Mxr uni vibe & PzAmp clean boost are in front.
TC delay and PzAmp Focus Boost are in the loop.

Pzamp is a small Italian builder.

The pzamp Focus Boost is a passive volume pot that is disabled when pedal is "engaged" (led is on). I use it as a volume boost for solos.
Basically I keep the amp (20W jubilee) volume reduced for rhythm and turn off the reduction for leads.

I've made him build it for me when I had the 100W jubilee because these amps don't like volume boosts in the loop.

Palmer PB40 ftw!!! 🥂

I love mine. It's small enough to not be a PITA to lug, yet I managed to cram 7 pedals and a wah on there, and had the exact space for a plectrum tin left (my first ever, always found the Altoids boxes cheesy AF).

Palmer is an "unspectacular" but legit company.

This board is really nice in my opinion: light, very flexible and comes with few extras at a good price.

100% agree about Palmer. Is a good company but totally uncool.

But I win! I use the Harley Benton (thomman brand) copy of Palmer! I’m the uncoolest!

You're hands down the winner, here!.

I had a V30 loaded Harley Benton 2x12 years ago and wasn't that bad.
Construction was a bit fragile but sounded fine and price was so low that was basically close to the cost of the speakers alone.

Their cabs are fun for the price, definitely sound decent enough and it's no drama if there's a beer stain on top or a scratch in the tolex.

I have the HB 1x12 with my Laney Leadtop.

The construction is indeed a bit fragile, but I got mine £50 secondhand, and it certainly wouldn't be the end of the world if I had to rehouse it :)

Still the most epic bargain in the world of guitar gear IMO

Did a crazy thing and it turned out crazy nice!
So the Atlantic delay/reverb and I broke up and I had it out for sale. This dude texted me that he was close by and if I was interested in a trade. He had this odd reverb pedal that he thought was my style because I explained earlier that I’m into noise and stuff.

I was a little skeptical because I really don’t like weirdness… the type of modern reverb weirdness that is popular today, like old blood noise type of stuff or synth/glitch/blippblopp reverb stuff. But he said “nahh, this is more like a crazy noisy spring thing”. Ok… I take it. Glad I did!

So this is basically, or what it sounds like to me a spring reverb with a nice dose of pre-delay wich I like, and it has a subtle delay slap to it. But it gets kinda weird with the dirt and reflection knobs. So the dirt isn’t really dirty, it’s more like a lofi thing. The whole sound of the pedal has a low cut or slight mid hump to it that the dirt knob adjusts. Then the reflection knob, is crazy. It sends the reverb into some kind of feedback that if oscillates it distorts.

Tried it alone and it’s nice, very springy and such. Then I tried it with the Carcosa fuzz. Wow! Crazy things happen. I think I just found my pre fuzz reverb pedal. Not in a shoegaze way, but more like an absurdly filthy huge chaos thing… thing.

Was curious so I opened it up.

Looks kinda old doesn’t it? Have no idea wtf this is, but I sounds great and I don’t even like “spring” sounding reverbs that much. I haven’t really looked this pedal/brand up but I got stuck in playing it and now I’m exhausted.
I’ll leave the “ask the fucking internet” to you my friends :bonk

That's a Belton Brick based reverb. They're very popular in the DIY scene and we're the main reverb of choice for booteek brands until the FV-1 chips showed up. You can get some cool sounds and they definitely have a sound of their own. They're often sold as spring like reverbs

Nice one from Germany-based company, formerly "Ground FX", I remember lusting for their "Burning Sunn" for some time.
Didn't know they changed their name.

Very popular brand among Doom Hipsters. 😁

I used to play in a Acoustic Bluegrass Trio where the Upright Bassist was known as "Swede"
by everyone. He was of Swedish ancestry, and was a big lug of a guy who was hilarious and
also an heavy drinker. You'd never know it, though. He could drink all night and not change,
and then be up at the crack of dawn. Quite the dude!

He wasn't quite the Doom Hispter, though.

I’m the opposite. Skinny, introvert, don’t drink, need to sleep as long as my kids and still tired. I can be funny though… sometimes. When my introvert side allows me to.

Cool. Thanks for the info. Never heard about this at all before. Yes it definitely sounds unique. But the pedal is very quiet at least. I can place it in front of the Carcosa and and it doesn’t hiss like many of the “spin” type reverbs does when used in front of amps/drives.

Accutronics makes spring reverb tanks since the 60s and they do digital springs too.

Had a dvmark tube combo, many years ago, with an accutronics spring reverb in it.

I didn't know this was a thing. Sure enough an FV1 chip is $15

Looks easy to build a DIY reverb. I bet there is a PCB floating around for this.
