Brand recognition. That's why it's probably better monetarily to sell in pieces, as @SillyOctpuss mentioned.
I do love my partscasters, and will continue to 'build' them when the urge strikes. But I go into the process wanting the best guitar for me -- not considering its resale value. I do all my own fretwork -- leveling, filing, polishing, etc. I've built body shapes for a few and do plan on building some necks in the near future. I just enjoy guitars and woodworking, and I get an excellent playing instrument out of it all.

It totally depends on who built it and the speck . A really well thought out one put together flawless will sell well but if you look around most are not that and the price reflects it.

This thing is better than any current production Fender I’ve ever played short of Custom Shop, plus it has bonus features like stainless steel frets.

Everyone loves the way it looks, I get comments all the time.

I’ve got other guitarists who have played it vouching for what a great guitar it is.

I was listing it below the price of any production Fender. Cheaper than a Duo Sonic.

I’d been trying to sell for almost a year and best I got from anyone was a couple tire kickers asking specs and immediately bailing.

“Oh the nut is 42mm? I can’t play anything but 41mm. Pass

And I can’t sell to any retailer because it doesn’t have a serial number so they won’t take it.

So it looks like we’re stuck together for life

Why don't you sell it as parts? If they're all quality name brand parts they'll go quick and you'll get a lot more than the $0 you're getting for it currently.

Probably what I’ll end up doing at some point. It’s just so much hassle and work

Why Not keep it? it seems to be a beauty :idk

It is! It’s just a misfit in my collection. I don’t have any use for it and I’d rather clear up space and funds for something I’d have more use for.

It just sits in storage and I pull it out to try to sell now and then and put it back in storage again when it doesn’t sell

If you don't want to fully break it down and have a bunch of different sales to keep an eye on, sell the neck and tuners. body with all it's hardware and a loaded scratchplate. You've only got 3 ads to keep track of then.

This is why I keep my guitars hung up and out in the open. The whole outta sight outta mind thing. I'd rather play some of them less frequently than not play them at all.

I gave a friend $200 for a Tele build he had over $800. He said, "Take it! I don't
want it around to look at, reminding me of what a bath I took on the whole thing."

:idk

It's a wall hanger. Looks cool. But I never play it.

Friends don't let friends build Partscasters. :rofl

Two of my favourite guitars are partscasters but I didn't build them. I ordered all the parts and took them to the guys down at Feline Guitars in London and they built them for me. At least that way I knew they would play well. Thankfully they both sound great too.

The Purple tele in my avatar is one of them.

All Fenders are part casters . They don’t build a specific neck for a particular body and still don’t. Even custom shop will start with a largely produced neck blank that is a particular type. Bodies are 95% cnc in one go . Doing the part selection yourself not really different. The problem arises when the person doing it doesn’t know what is a good choice for a successful build in either sound or function and then isn’t capable of doing the fine detail work with the precision needed. All too many times the frets are not dressed beyond their initial installation and bevel.

A parts guitar built by someone that knows what is going to work together and detail finished can be the equal of any Fender style instrument by anyone and probably the best value for money in the instrument business . BUT get if wrong and do it badly and you end up with a $1500 crapheap. :rofl
