Potential Mesa Reissues? IIC+ and Dual Rec

The irony is the same people asking for the reissue will likely get this and claim it doesn't sound like the original, if history is any guide here. Or claim that some other variant, i.e. a IIC++ or some other thing, is the real grail. LOL.
The transformers won't be the original ones so they will be one of the ones blamed for sure, I can hear it now.

There's nostalgia and mythical notions wrapped up in the IIC+ that may
or may not actually be valid.

Yeah people have always been ragging on anything thats not a recto or a mark. And even if it is a recto or a Mark if it came out after the 90s tops they still rag on it lol

So frankly reissuing an old recto and mark seems pretty smart move tbh :cop

Even though "they" will still hate it

I am not people. :hmm

:rofl

I have no experience with the OG IIC+ (unless my Synergy module counts, lol) but having had a V25, the big difference is the ability to fine tune the gain structure using the cascading clean channel input stage, which seems to maybe give a wider variety of tonal options than the V and VII? Can those in the know chime in on this?

the dual gain controls is a cool feature (IIIs and IVs have this as well)

but I think it would be tough to argue that II-IV have more tonal options than a V or VII :idk

My expectation is that people buy this, find that the V or VII actually sounded pretty damn close or even identical. Then we'll get people who say they believe the IIC+ sounds better because it's simpler than those other amps...even though the circuit is probably as complex as the equivalent single channel on the V/VII...

Agreed.
The one thing you can say about it though is that the reissue will have more tonal shaping options for the IIC+ sounds than both the V and the VII. Comparing it against the JP2C is more tricky though..

The advantage the IIC will have over the JP2C is that the JP2C has preset parameters. The gain knob on the JP2C presets Volume 1 to 7, or if you pull the knob, 8. You have the full range of the volume 1 knob on the IIC but it was stripped from later Mark amps for simplicity. The JP2C only has 2 pull knobs, gain and presence, while the IIC will allow you to pull all the knobs on the front panel for massive variations in tones you can get. The JP2C has certain parameters some will like more and is MUCH more flexible in a live situation, but the IIC will give many more tones and options in a recording situation for sure.

Yeah, and this is the main reason it's very interesting for me personally as I don't play live.
Does anyone know if the reissue will offer custom options? I feel like getting a wooden one with a wicker grill is almost mandatory for the IIC+ :D
