NMD: Marshall JVM 410H

Just tried a low noise & microphonics JJ ECC832 in the V1 position. I really like the character imparted by the "low gain" second triode, but it feels like too much gain reduction for the green and orange voicings on both the clean and crunch channels.

I'm waiting for the tubes to cool, and then I'm going to try a pair of American made 5751s (RCA & JAN GE) in V1 and V2.

Rollin' rollin' rollin' :headbang

FYI the 12AT7 is horrible in V5. It’s way too low gain. I’d be interested to try a 5751 though but I’m pretty happy with where I landed using a Mesa 12AX7 in every slot.

That amp works best with a selected jj in v1 and sovtec in the rest all ecc83’s. Nos tubes are a waste of time in this amp and most modern designs. A good non microphonic high gain V1 and a row of functional Chinese or Russian for the rest of the pre amp. Power is also best served with a matching set running at the right voltage for this amp. I have tried all the best NOS tubes in this and they don’t improve it. I even had a full set of Mullard from the late 70s in it for a while but it wasn’t really better. My favourite el34 is the Mullard from that time but it only makes a big difference in vintage gear that was designed around it.

I tell y’all what RIPS ass,
One of those Black Diamond re-issue Tele’phunk’s
in V1.
I get it, the tube’s a high quality JJ 83cc.
I don’t know, I have never had a JJ that sounds as good as these pseudo telefunkens in any amp I’ve owned.
The noise is very low also.
An Ace V1.
I claimed it, the tube is “Mick Marrs in a 83cc”
Btw, it’s not Mick’s sound per say,
more Mick’s attitude & looks that kill.
It brings the sleaze out of you.
For me the price was worth it and started bargain thoughting about running the whole pre-amp with them.?
Sickeningly good in the Lenz Hot Chili.

Forget reissue tubes sounding or performing anything like the originals did because the materials used are no longer used in tube production. End of. Just get modern tubes branded from the manufacturer and selected or genuine NOS.

Just tried Sovtek LPS 12AX7s in V1 - V4 and a balanced Sovtek 5751 in V5. Soooo goooood! :chef

Now looking through my collection for a low noise JJ to try in V1 per @Eagle. I have a suitable JJ 5751 and JJ ECC832 I can also try in V1 to reduce overall gain.

I've got to wait for the tubes to cool, so I'm going to work on my 9V (5.5mm X 2.1mm) to 5V (USB-C) drop down box for MY pedalboard MIDI splitter / WIDI interface.

Found a Ruby Tubes 12AX7 ACZ HG, which is basically a re-labled JJ.

Put it in V1 and loved the thick imparted darkness I felt slam against my chest. :satan :satan :satan

But oh so much gain. To balance the beautiful overpowering darkness, a JAN Philips 5751 went back into the V5 PI socket.... E U P H O R I A..... a sound so thick and clear you can swim through it.

I love my Boogies and this amp has earned an equal place in my heart.

Thanks to @santiall , @Life Eats Life , and @Eagle for their guidance.
