Good fucking Lord the ideas guys have about parts cost is hilarious. If you can find a Ceriatone FAS100 going for the same price as a Jet City then it absolutely makes sense. I’d personally go for a (well built) C3 amp over a ceriatone if the price was the same. Ceriatone haven’t been making these long so there’s unlikely to be much on the used market, so your only real option is to buy direct. C3 and Jet City are way more available used.
Ceriatone’s FAS100 is the best part of £2000 here, plus shipping and taxes. Used SLO’s go for £2500 or so. Which makes most sense? Which will hold more value? Jet City 100’s go for £200 all the time, and often even cheaper (£150-200).
And regarding the components, I don’t believe in any magic. That’s why I think Jet City are just fine. You’re suggesting that they don’t matter EXCEPT for whatever Jet City use? They sound great and the build is OK, I’ve certainly seen (much) worse in other brands that charge a lot more.
Wtf can be in amp that warrants a 4K price tag.
Or for that matter a digi box for 2500 it really is a matter of what the market will bare. End of story
