OMFG I need an SLO100 in my life

If you can find a Ceriatone FAS100 going for the same price as a Jet City then it absolutely makes sense. I’d personally go for a (well built) C3 amp over a ceriatone if the price was the same. Ceriatone haven’t been making these long so there’s unlikely to be much on the used market, so your only real option is to buy direct. C3 and Jet City are way more available used.

Ceriatone’s FAS100 is the best part of £2000 here, plus shipping and taxes. Used SLO’s go for £2500 or so. Which makes most sense? Which will hold more value? Jet City 100’s go for £200 all the time, and often even cheaper (£150-200).

And regarding the components, I don’t believe in any magic. That’s why I think Jet City are just fine. You’re suggesting that they don’t matter EXCEPT for whatever Jet City use? They sound great and the build is OK, I’ve certainly seen (much) worse in other brands that charge a lot more.
Good fucking Lord the ideas guys have about parts cost is hilarious.
Wtf can be in amp that warrants a 4K price tag.
Or for that matter a digi box for 2500 it really is a matter of what the market will bare. End of story

Then you should know about xformers…and no matter what any clone does it’s not gonna be the same unless the use the same. Which they don’t

Neither does BAD or anyone else. If you want the OG SLO you have to buy an OG SLO. That said, the BAD SLO's sound pretty darn good to my ear.

I'm looking at the red(burst) Strat(ish) thing behind the EBMM and wondering what it could possibly be that would warrant a $3K price tag. :wat Any idea?

Jeebus, all of the prices... I'm so glad I have no taste LOL.

Bridge looks like EBMM, guessing it's a Cutlass model. Fretboard looks to have some flame as well, back of the neck is probably ridiculous with flame or birdseye maple.

I had a JCA100HDM that the previous owner had the SLO mod done on and man that amp ripped. Really wish I hadn’t sold it and even tried to buy it back, but the buyer wouldn’t let it go.

Picked up a JCA50 combo in a trade a few weeks ago, bone stock, and it’s not the same. Might have to have the SLO mod done to it…

All that to say, Id take that JCA100HDM all day over having no SLO flavor at all. For a fraction of the price I don’t care if it was built with Temu parts - it ripped like nothing else Ive ever owned and never once let me down.

Now, if I hit the lottery, ignore everything above as I grabbed an og SLO 😂

Out of curiosity why is that?
Simple, I don’t like mixing brands. And prefer to support small businesses.
It becomes more store than builder.

I didn’t like when PBG took over Tone King, Two-Rock, and Gjika amps, and Roger Giffin, Saul Koll, Gene Baker and Johan Gustavsson guitars

What also bugs me is when small builders that were very vocal about not believing in PTP then move to PCB.

But it’s merely my personal preference.
I stopped doing biz with my guys until they were no longer PBG.

Places like BAD provide an exit path for small businesses. For example, Mike Soldano was getting older and looking to pull back, and BAD allowed him to sell the business to another privately owned and run business. I think that beats the alternative of selling to a PE firm or PE owned company like the Mesa/Gibson deal. It was also obviously much better for the small business owner than just shutting down.

I’ve known Mike since 88. So yeah money is always a lovely thing but it’s not like he was Randall Smith old. He just wanted to screw around with cars. I get that.
But it doesn’t mean I have to buy bad stuff.

Again if I’d want a Soldano I’d get an old one. But that’s just me.

I've never played through a real SLO 30 or 100. I liked the modeler versions so I picked up a Wangs HD-15 for $700USD. It sounds very SLO like to my ear, so I'm happy enough for now. The crunch channel is Bogner Shiva inspired, it also delivers some big smiles. What about the Astro 20?

I had an OG SLO with the matching 2x12 years ago. It was okay. I don't really get the hype, personally. Out of their lineup, the Hotrod Plus was my favorite ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
