NMD: Marshall JVM 410H

Getting ready to drive it through a 30th Anniversary Marshall 6960B 4 x 12 I've been rocking for 30+ years.

So many great sounds hidden within this amp. My preferences mostly exist in the green and orange voicings, but the red voicing on the clean channel is fat, chewy (near) perfection. :chef

The footswitch form factor and functionality far surpass anything I have ever experienced with any other amp.

Also, this amp sings beautifully with my very well broken-in T75 loaded 4x12.

I am loving this Marshall!

Try the red mode on the crunch channel with a strat. I've usually got some pretty extreme eq but once you land on the sweet spot it's really cool.

A balanced 5751 in the PI is awesome in the JVM.
JJ or NOS Jan Philips.
It lowered the backside push in a more natural way then a 803.
More classic but not too compressed.
V1 TungSol
v2 Chinese. (Gold Lion)
v3 TungSol
v4 Chinese (Gold Lion)
v5 balanced 5751 or Sovtek LPS.

* CRITICAL component of the entire pre-amp tube mixture is the tubes are rigorously tested and are born winner’s.

Gold pins for the TungSol 12ax7’s is worth it
in that amp.
Or Electro-Harmonix 12ax7 gold pins kick ass also.
I’m NOT a “gold pin Karen”.. like I stated, some brands and locations in the pre-amp are worth it.
The Gold Lion G12ax7 is my first choice for that Chinese warming vibe.
Those sucker’s are electron tubes!

JJ are a real hit or miss in the JVM.
You gotta get legit strong HG ones.
I used to only use the 83S, 83MG but discovered with JJ’s (whom I aptly named “Toad Boner’s”),
need to be HG’s in some high gain amps.
Not because they give you high gain,
they can handle the high gain circulating.alll up in there and sound accomadating to the push as opposed to blunting the punch.

Cheers for Motha’f’n YEARS dudes🤘🏻

Ordered a pair of TungSol gold pins, a pair of Gold Lions, and a balanced high gain JJ 5751 per your recommendation. I'll report back after the swap.

Dude that’s gonna be so killer.
BTW, be very CAREFUL with JJ EL-34L’s.
I had TWO sets (quads) go south and red plate.
One of them destroyed my (2) bias probe’s and took out fuses.
I found the best was regular JJ EL-34’s and EH 34’s were a better & safer match.
Cheers!!

Thanks for that advice. I found a nice matched & balanced JAN Phillips 5751 last night to replace the JJ in the PI position. They also had a sovtek 5751, so I ordered one of them as well. I'll do some preamp tube rolling this weekend after the new 5751s arrive.

Thanks x 1000000!
