Is a JVM still something good to buy?

I enjoyed my 210H head quite a bit, but ultimately wasn’t very “me” and moved it in favor for stuff I wanted more

am still curious about the 410, but I’m not so sure I’m a “Marshall guy” lol

Can you test drive one? Might be an option to help.

I’m a happily obsessed Mesa fanatic lol

If I wanted to try and scratch the Marshall itch again at any point, honestly it would probably be via one of the Ceriatone cryptid models lol

I love the JVM. It's one of my favourite amps. I don't think it needs to be modded at all but, like any amp, you have to approach it as its own amp and not in comparison to something else. The JVM covers a lot of range so people, naturally, compare it to the 'originals'. Clean mode isn't identical to a Fender Blackface, Crunch isn't identical to a Plexi and OD1 Green isn't identical to a 2203... but they are all reasonably close. That really isn't important. The JVM, with it's own voice (even if it is close to those other amps), is great on its own. It's a high quality amp that covers a LOT of territory. If you work with it, it will take you a long way.

Incidentally, I designed most of those JVM mods from back in the day.

- Noise gates yes. Per channel. But this also speeds up channel switching changes. Which is absolutely invaluable for a live player.
Yeah this is huge, if there was ever a JVM revision they can instantly ditch the reverb and use gates, would be so handy

- Gain range is more usable on the OD channels on the Satch model.
4.5-10 is basically useless on the JVM's haha

- Satch model has a choke fitted. Original JVM does not.
More is better

- Crunch channel isn't quite the same as the original JVM either, as far as I can remember.
I find the crunch the worst chan on the JVM, not clean and not thicc, hopefully an upgrade
All of those sound awesome honestly

I spend way too much time tinkering on audio and video and never really post some of the stuff along the way. I wasn't 100% happy with this but I gotta press on and get the video side of things done. At the very least it's all learning and I can look back at these mixes in a few years and hopefully see improvement (my mixes from a few years back... YIKES).

If I'm honest the lead guitar was a bastard of a thing to mix here but I managed to simmer it down to a point where it's not super jarring. I'm happy with the vast majority just not the lead guitar.

All on the JVM410H boosted with a Bondi Effects Sick As, leads were OD2 Orange and Rhythm was OD1 Orange. Into the Redseven amp central and MirrorProfile Brit Vintage IR blend
