NMD: Axe-Fx III MK II Turbo (J.F)

Serious question though
What does FM0 look like is it just an FM3 with no switches?
Does it have a bigger display ?
Knobs underneath , how many ?
How much CPU , same as FM3 turbo ?

I think an FM0 makes sense of you want to run it as part of a larger midi configured pedal board. I think it makes less sense in a home studio environment because it’s what, an AxeFx with less IO or horsepower? Maybe it would be cool alternative for people that don’t want to spend the cake on the Axe or want the rack form factor.

I’m rounding around to @Los-D idea of a Fractal Interface running instances in a DAW like plugs. It protects his code, but gives the flexibility of plugins. That my fantasy land wish now. :ROFLMAO:

If I could dream out loud; basically, it's just a box of chips and jacks for running the Fractal magic:

* Same guts as the FM9; I said I was dreaming, I'd accept the FM3. But identical to one or the other....
* All the same ports as on the rear of the FM3, maybe even drop the power switch
* No footswitches
* No display
* Only the level knob(s); no other knobs or buttons
* Maybe keep the LEDs, but leave them out if it helps minimize the cost

Primary use case is computer-based; the much loved Axe-Edit does all the heavy lifting. Basically, it'd be a fixture in the home studio.

And as JT points out, FASLINK so you can use an FC to nav presets etc. if you want to take it to band practice...

I imagine Cliff could do pretty well spinning off specific hardware offerings sort of like how Strymon operates. In addition to maintaining his traditional all in ones.

Though likely operated as a separate division so the devices could be produced at scale and be available retail.

The heck with your FM0 and FM6. I want an FM5. Two more switches, two more outs, double the CPU and $200 more. 2 is the magic number. :bonk

Oh, and SPDIF in because there is just out right now in the FM3 and that's one not two.

TBH not quite my idea as it has been thrown around before.

I would love an FM0 tho (small footprint Fractal device) that would be a buy once and keep forever type of device for travel, gigging, etc with FASLink.

Yeah I think he could print money with a pedal division. (Fractal Timeline, Big Sky, Mobius, HX Effects, Iridium)

Certainly enough cheddar to develop the Fractal UA Plugin Super Audio InterfaceTM

It’s a really cool idea. They need some sort of offering that gets all that Fractal goodness conveniently operating in the DAW like a plug-in.
