I don't think they are. I think they just accept it. Native is cracked, for example. I don't even know if iLok (or similar programs) are truly 100% effective in protecting against piracy.

Yeah, I get it, but there are soooo many companies that exist largely in the digital domain, and piracy doesnt seem to stop them from being able to operate. I get that Cliff is protective of the secret sauce in the code though.

Using plugs is sooooo much more easier/flexible than hardware for recording. A man can dream. lol

Has been discussed before but at this point I would like a hardware-based plugin even. Like Native but only an interface to your Ax/FM device that could be used in DAW. Like a smarter editor

Like a UA thing where the Fractal Super InterfaceTM is running all the instances loaded in the DAW? As long as you could run a handful of instances like with plugs I’d be down for this.

The keys to the Fractal Kingdom are in the code IMO.

Fractal's modelling is just on another level from everything else. People will argue for their choices, which is fine. Lot's of people are more concerned about something that's really easy to use. Also fine. But it's not really close as far as true accuracy is concerned IMO. To me, everyone else is just making product, and Cliff is obsessed.

IMO it's a deeper rabbit hole than anything else. Ever since I switched back to hardware for my recording needs, I'm much more productive.

I’m the opposite. It’s added an entire layer to the recording process.

With plugins you just slap one on the bus and track. You’re not committing to anything, because essentially all you are doing is recording a DI that is then getting processed by the plug. But at any point in time you can tweak the tone stack, switch entire amps/cabs etc.

With the AXE, you have to arm two tracks for each “track”, one for the processed sound and one for the DI, and configure the outputs for this. Once you’ve tracked, you then have to reconfigure the output on the axe and the DI track to reamp, and once you find something you like you have to manually record it. And then if youre at the end of the project and want to make a final tweak or two, you repeat the process. To make no mention that you’re also saving scenes on the Axe for each of these parts, rather than just having a plug sitting on the bus already dialed in to where you left it.

Everyone has their own workflow, but I find hardware a little bit of a pain in the ass. It’s the sacrifice you make to get the Fractal epicness though :ROFLMAO:

You’re not committing to anything

And that's precisely why I prefer hardware. You gotta commit yourself to a tone and you also gotta finish that take start to end.
These days, I only fire up HX Native in case I want to create some patches (that I will then drag to the Stomp on my board).
I used to record things without cab simulation until a while ago (while monitoring through a cab sim) but I even stopped doing that.

There is no fool proof copy-protection. In fact last week I had an extremely exhausting meeting about ours, and my desire to limit how much we rely on it and how much effort we put into it.

Make good products, the right people will buy it.

Lithuanian trap producers, crusty communist punk rockers, and 15 year olds aren't going to buy your plugins, no matter how cheap or accessible you make it. Just the cost of doing business.
