I think a nicer more graphical pc editor can go a long way, all the modeling elements are already there.
By that I mean an interactive graphical representation of the model that looks like the physical gear.

Well, after the Line6 multimedia *wow* presentation for a product not even close to IRL release (Including some lampshading for good measure), Cliff's announcement seems more rooted in reality, including the tongue-in-cheek reference to techno-lust boys-with-toys

Imagine if Line6 focused *solely* on the guitar modeling aspects, without the work station stuff + hyper promo costs, they'd absolutely eat Fractal's lunch with units starting @ $500ish

Line6 could then hawk "model packs" for the ca$h cow aspect, releasing an all-in-one workstation laterz...

Nevertheless, the next couple of years *most* gear forums will be absolutely tsunami-ed with digital ad-copy, hype, hyperbole, criticisms & shitposting nonstop (by both professionals & amateurs), I await the IRL release of Helicks Stadium ~ It's gonna be wild!

based on the VP-4 being the most recent Fractal release, I’d be surprised if we see a drastic departure in user experience.

Very curious what’s coming but I hope it’s a well rounded product based on what users are asking for, rather than a more refined version of what exists already.

I’d guess there is the VP4 amp/IR coming next using the same chassis etc with the same basic UI. (which tbh is easy to use)

I agree, I don’t see FAS magically releasing a next gen product that will compete with L6 or the QC in UI or design. That’s just not their thing. But I don’t think they have to. Wireless editing and updating, cloud sharing, plugin integration etc. would be a dramatic step in the right direction. Then let Laxu go wild with some new button layouts and we good.

Because it's such a trivial thing that the overwhelming majority of people who own one don't give a shit about it.

While no one would say "No, please don't make it boot faster", I don't think many would disagree it'd be a lot cooler to focus on other things.

Just back from a self-inflicted enforced holiday - got the message loud and clear Mods :)

My personal view is that his post was snarky and a bit F.U.D'y .... but its his forum and his world .... however the forum is publicly viewable.

Maybe trying to keep the "vibe" up amongst his people / minimize defections ? ... I don't know .... deliberately or not (?) it also came across as somewhat arrogant.

To my knowledge, D.I or the head of YGG have never publicly posted anything like this ever - in fact the L6 gang are always overtly complimentary of Cliff's / Fractal achievements.

Imagine the shit-show on the forums / community if the head of YGG had come out in the live stream and said something like "Stadium is going to leave all the completion in our dust"

But, here we are .... 8 pages, 145+ posts and 2K+ views about a possible "thing" that is, by the very quick follow-up post, probably at least X years away.

I said absolutely nothing about it not being a significant update. I said if it has has a paltry number of amps at launch (like the beloved TMP) it has better best Fractal quality by a wide margin. Mind you that is against current gen Fractal gear. I don’t think it will.

Further, when we do end up comparing next gen Helix and next gen Fractal, if history is any guide I’m pretty damn sure who will remain top dog.

The new Helix gear is over priced IMO. If you don’t agree, then buy it. I’ll put my money toward the next gen Fractal.

Is there a reason you are following me around and acting butt hurt making comments? Do you own a lot of stock in Yamaha? Because you are acting a bit like you are personally invested in the Line 6 brand.

I’m not a fan boy about brands but some people are and think that others must be as well. I buy the best available on the upper side of gear. Line 6 has never been that. I also buy whatever piques my interest on the cheaper side of gear. Hotone to Nux to whatever.

Find something else to do besides hounding me please. It’s starting to become annoying. I like having fun here and this ain’t it.

Perhaps Cliff can add a legacy boot mode for the people that don’t give a shit that the new AxeFXIV boots much faster. That way they can still have plenty of time to continue scratching their nuts.

Nobody said a thing about not focusing on other things as well. I want a Fractal that boots faster. There’s not a damned thing wrong with that desire and I don’t think anyone would argue it’s not an area that couldn’t be improved upon. I don’t give a shit who doesn’t give a shit about it.

I’m not big on complex fx chains. I want better feel for the clean and low gain stuff. In fact all the lower gain stuff is where modelling is at its weakest imo. I would also like a dedicated frfr amp experience that actually feels like an amp.
UI has never been an issue for me because I came to Axe after a long line of rack processors and to do what is does the UI is fine . I am perfectly happy to program from the front panel.

Oh and yes axe4 will be out soon because the other platforms have moved customers expectations to the next gen and even though axe 3 is probably better than those next gen products sales will dwindle because of perception.

I seem to remember seeing on the Fractal Careers page a while back, something to do with Android, I think it was, which leads me to think the next gen won't get a touchscreen, but will have WIFI, so it can be used with a mobile device. I think that's a good middle ground for those who want a touchscreen, and those opposed to it. And I'd imagine it would help with hardware costs also.

Fractal sells direct in North America.

Everywhere else they sell thru a distributor.

The distributor needs to make money.

You're also getting a 3 year transferable warranty. We get a 1 year non-transferable one.

An 3 year warranty here costs an additional several hundred dollars and still can't be transferred.

G66 makes a nominal profit.

Your cost difference is the warranty and VAT.

I would have to pay the same local VAT rate whether I buy from G66 or if I were allowed to buy directly from Fractal, so that’s not relevant.

The extended warranty is a fair point though.

No. Reading rants/complaints about Line6 from folks that obviously haven’t used a Helix - at least not in the last five years or so - is just not that entertaining. I will go ahead and tag @KingsXJJ to because same applies to him. I’ve got my complaints about Helix, and 5-6 years ago amp modeling would have been one of them.

It is ALMOST entertaining to read someone so out of touch as to not realize that the reason Line 6 has been eating everyone for lunch is because of all of its workstation features. As if Neural would be surviving, much less thriving, if workstation features weren’t wildly important.

I don’t give a shit about workstation features. But it takes a truly myopic moron to not recognize that this preference is in the very very small minority.

For people using backing tracks & automation live, Line6 has answered prayers not even thought of yet...

Of course the boudoir players will have a blast with the self-contained workstation approach.

For dinosaurs like me, who like winging "live" versions of "layered" recordings in a 3+ piece, amps are still where it's at

But the next gen Fractal definitely has my attention, for superior toanz tracking + a live backup, the last time I tried Line6 several years back the amp models didn't have the feelz + sounded slightly inauthentic with a "modern" glaze to them, for lack of a better word.

If I was a metal player it would be purfecto...

I'm absolutely sure Stadium's modeling will be in the wheelhouse of many, many modern players though, just like the previous gen was/is
