The board arrived today. This Brazilian company Hands Custom had a 21% off sale and everything looked like what I’m going for, so I thought I’d take a chance and check one out.

This is the 12x24 VTX with the shelf.

First impressions:

The bad:
  • The soft case is super cheap, but should get the job done
  • Some of the finish work is a little sloppy (see the pic of the rivet on the top shelf)
The good:
  • I love the teak sides!
  • Plenty of space under the board for a power supply
  • I love the on/off switch and 1/4” jacks. I’ll probably add a couple XLR jacks in the empty slots
  • The size should be perfect.
  • Seems sturdy and generally well built (with a few flaws)
  • I didn’t give Vertex any money
Can’t wait to start putting it all together!

I swapped all of mine to EBS Gold Flats and haven't found a dud among them yet. Costly, but also strangely satisfying.
I bought a few of those to try out, and I also found them to be of superior quality and "strangely satisfying".

The only reason I didn't invest in more of them is their lack of repairability. It's an issue for me because I am always modifying my boards and tend to unintentionally mistreat my cables.
:facepalm

Yeah the EBS Flats are good but I still find the solderless Evidence Audio SIS + Monorail stuff more practical as you can have the exact right length needed. I mainly use EBS for TRS and TRS -> 2xTS cables.
