NDSP Quad Cortex

i dont hate the unit,i hate the owner attitude, very arrogant,i keep the unit only for the FXs and because i liked some amps

hope that answer your question
It does and I kinda expected the answer

Just some food for thought. Every single device is going to have arrogant, overly biased, users. Every single one. Yes your beloved Kemper group included. This goes beyond gear obviously. Go check out Ford vs Chevy groups, video game groups, etc

I truly cannot imagine a moment where my highest priority in a unit is "well what is the user base like, are they nice?". Id argue that's dead last.

I'm sure you have a personal anecdote of someone being rude to you and they were a fractal user. Half if not more of us are here on this site because of Quad Cortex owners getting us kicked out of other places lol not that we were all kind and cordial ourselves but that also gives you a moment to think "did I react the correct way also?" @Orvillain was kicked out of a the Kemper beta team because he provided, what I thought, was well documented flaws in their profiling method (I think).

So I guess more power to you if you rank your gear on the user base and their attitude. Ive just heard this argument twice in the last two days 😂

I was shopping for a car decades ago and an Olds dealership pissed me off in a number of ways.
Swore off the brand because of it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That's the company/dealership. A better comparison would be you got into an argument with a guy at work who drives a Ford and swore off Fords 😂

Which hey, more power to you!

And I'm not sure where this guys interaction took place. Some people get mad at the FAS Forum for example but often times the person goes into the FAS Forum saying they don't like Fractal or X unit is better.

That's like me being invited to a friend's house to watch football and then complaining about football and how basketball is better the entire time. I can tell you I probably won't be invited back 😬

Some early wish list items:
  • Eventide micropitch detune effect
  • Keeley Halo delay
  • Strymon Cloudburst reverb
  • Stereo widener effect
  • Harmonic tremolo
  • Timmy drive
There's no Timmy in the QC? I guess I lost track. Anyway, that one's easy enough to remedy. There are a bzillion Timmy's/ Timmy-a-likes in the cloud, I imagine. Better still, capture your own at your own ideal settings. It's a fun little project - much more idiot proof than capturing a full amp rig - and at the end you have Timmy blocks tailor made for you.

I could have sworn there was a Harmonic Tremolo, too, but I'm going to make a confession: I don't even know what a harmonic tremolo is. :bag

And lastly, I'm pretty sure there are some stereo effects blocks (delays, modulations, etc.) in the QC that have stereo widening algorithms embedded. Would these get you what you're looking for?

The rest? Yeah, I agree with the previous statements - let's not hold our breath.

Not even that to be honest dude.

I was removed purely for being complimentary to the Quad Cortex.

If that isn't arrogance, I don't know what is.

I'll say one thing for Line6 and Fractal - regardless of how complimentary to other gear I've been, and regardless how many problems I've identified or blatantly whinged about online with their gear, they've never treated me like that.

To be fair Christophe is a legend. <attacks removed - I don't wanna be THAT guy too much of the time!>

Cheers!

More like if you got into an argument with a guy who drives a Ford, and then every other Ford driver in the company immediately got behind the guy cause of the brand, and suddenly you got a pack of Ford drivers getting in your grill. Pun intended. :rofl

I know the answer is probably neither but if you had to choose between buying a QC or Kemper right now what would you lean?
Really tough question to answer. If we're talking purely about amp profiling accuracy, then it would be QC. But if we're talking a solid holistic system, it would be Kemper. Although I hate the workflow myself, but others like it.

Does Kemper really release updates all that much? I know editor, liquid profiling. But seems like you'd be installing something new once every 2 years :bag

Yeah not really. One really cool thing about Kemper tho (to me) is that you could have bought the original unit at launch (2011?) and you are still getting updates for it.

That's wild to think about in a way

Kind of wash vs. QC, in this regard.

I think of both of them as being “what they are” for the most part - QC because NDSP are turtles, and KPA because it‘s just architected that way. But both have that “extensible via capture/profile“ thing going, which compensates somewhat.

I’ve owned the QC twice. Once about a year ago, and actually just returned the one I picked up about a month ago from Sweetwater.

It’s better than it was a year ago, but it still feels like a beta device when you compare it to Line6 or Fractal.

NDSP will just always put more time into their plugins and that’s ok; I just ain’t going to continue playing games with the QC.
