I sure hope they fix it and without cost to you. I hadn't heard of the specific BLOD issue til now. I obviously haven't been paying attention because it sounds like it's a bit too common.
Except again, there's nothing I really want to replace it with... except maybe another one? And would that be any more reliable?Fix it, and sell it maybe? Small profit is better than throwing it away.
Yeah I get it. I love my QC and don't want a FAS or Helix if I needed to replace it. It mostly boils down to it being stupid easy to use.Except again, there's nothing I really want to replace it with... except maybe another one? And would that be any more reliable?
At this point I have two of them: one working as guitar processor/ audio interface/ command central on my desk, and one for mobile use on a pedalboard. A big part of the appeal is the way they integrate together. So if I sell one, do I sell the other? And then what? Buy an FM9 that hurts my brain and makes my desk tip over?

I already tried the "pop the SD card and reinsert it" thing, but that accomplished nothing. I guess it could be a ribbon cable or something, but it seems unlikely since it was functioning fine when I turned it off Friday night, and it was dead on Saturday morning. Unless we had an earthquake overnight. Seems more likely some tiny surface-mounted capacitor no one will ever find went poof when I killed the power strip on Friday.Yeah if it costs you closer to $500 to repair, I'd probably try everything I can to see if I could fix it yourself. In case it's something like "open it up and try to reconnect everything" level stuff.
4 years but who's counting.Personally I expect they are gonna cover it. These days news travels fast, and I don’t expect they (or any company) want to deal with a bad rep of 2 year old units going down.
Just curious, did you shut it down by powering off your power strip or by shutting it down on the device?I already tried the "pop the SD card and reinsert it" thing, but that accomplished nothing. Yeah…it’s always the question if there is another side to that story. I did some googling, I didn’t see any simular cases. And that story about a guy being charged 465 EU has me a little spooked. Unless he dropped it down a flight of stairs or something.
Yeah there is always 2 sides to a story so maybe you won't be charged! It's a bummer it seems the main charge was labor4 years but who's counting.

Anyway, thanks again for the kind thoughts, everybody.
Thanks, man.
To be fair, this one's well out of warranty. It's still more than a little irritating that it died overnight whilst doing absolutely nothing, but...
(P.S. What is a "KDH dude"?)
This dude-
He’s done a few “hard hitting journalism” videos “exposing” some personalities and companies. While I think 65% of the internet guitar world blows him off, it’s exactly that kind of platform that needs to bring these types of issues to the surface.
I hit the power strip, as I always have, probably thousands of times. But this crossed my mind as a potential concern as well.Just curious, did you shut it down by powering off your power strip or by shutting it down on the device?
Yeah it shouldn’t matter (power outages anyone?)I hit the power strip, as I always have, probably thousands of times. But this crossed my mind as a potential concern as well.
lol “please send a video of your device not doing anything”I heard back from NDSP already - so I'll give them points for being very timely. They asked about the PSU. (I'm on the stock "Golden Profits LOL" PSU, which has since tested fine on my other QC.) And they asked for a video, which is a little annoying since I'm sure they've seen this exact symptom hundreds of times... But so far, so friendly. I'm going to try to be optimistic here.
"What do you mean 'forever'. And what shade of blue?"lol “please send a video of your device not doing anything”

You try booting it in safe mode?
I was really hoping I'd been lucky enough to get two rock solid QCs, but it seems more like a matter of probability over time. This is why it's important for a vendor to provide an explanation, and not just a replacement/ repair.Yeah, there were two common issues-the BLOD and the tractor noises at startup. Taking a quick glance at Discord, it seems neither issue has been permanently resolved. I just skimmed for ‘blue lights’ and got this in a couple minutes. I’ve probably got 50 screenshots saying the exact same thing, with some owners having to have sent it back more than once.

Note- these reports are not the same people as the two I posted above.
It appears the whole tractor noises at startup thing is just as bad now as it was when I stopped paying attention. There isn’t a single post detailing if they had to pay for the repair or not, which I find a bit odd. For every one of these posts there were previously, there’d be a “Don’t worry, customer support is great and I had my unit back in a week” post to follow, but I’m not seeing that now, which makes me very curious.
