NDSP Quad Cortex

Even in my job I’m known for spending time trying to solve something, then I ask, then I fix it myself within minutes of asking. Idk what it is lol
I had a manager at an old job and when anyone would ask her hey xyz is happening what do we do… “what would you do”….. ok let’s go with that.

I’m 99% sure she was just avoiding doing anything but there really is some zen in asking yourself those things first haha. So many times I’ll think about asking someone something then pretend I’m asking myself, the answer always seems easier

That's a very healthy thing to do tbh when working with people. I've been blessed to be around some very bright minds but even so, if somehow figuring out what to do in a tough spot always ends up in the same court, people start waiting for directions to come in before they lift a finger. That sort of question helps keep folks on their toes imho

There's a problem solving concept called rubber ducking. Basically you have a rubber duck (or any inanimate object) on your desk and ask it questions. This helps you clarify your own thoughts and potentially solve the problem before you need to go ask a real person.

Really good managers are amazing. It's all about helping people do their work easier and with less conflict. It makes all the difference in a job.

I think back to the book Psycho Cybernetics, where the theory is your brain can't actively solve complex problems while you are thinking. So you will spend some time thinking about a problem, and then while you're driving or in the shower or whatever you suddenly come up with the solution.

I'm most productive in the morning because my brain has been thinking about all these things while I sleep and do other stuff.

I often come up with solutions in the shower or at the gym.

A-a-a-a-nd my Quad Cortex shit the bed this morning. The old one that's way out of its warranty window, naturally. Eternal blue lights of doom. Tried the memory card re-insertion routine - nada. I can't even imagine what made it unhappy while it was sitting on my desk disconnected from any source of power overnight last night. :idk

Man, if ANYBODY deserves good Quad Vortex juju, it's you, sir.

Super sorry to hear that, and I hope they will quote you a surprisingly reasonable cost with quick turnaround time to get it up and running.

Nooooo. Has it really been 2 years since you got it from SW 😮

That guy in discord said it cost 465 euros for his out of warranty repair 😔

Jokes aside wasn't there a thing where if the power supply touched the metal housing it could short it?

Tbh, id expect NDSP to take care of it, regardless of warranty.
Unit like this shouldn’t go down so fast.

Did they charge 465 for a simular case?
