NDSP Quad Cortex

A-a-a-a-nd my Quad Cortex shit the bed this morning. The old one that's way out of its warranty window, naturally. Eternal blue lights of doom. Tried the memory card re-insertion routine - nada. I can't even imagine what made it unhappy while it was sitting on my desk disconnected from any source of power overnight last night. :idk

That sucks! Mojo sent that it's not a big issue and it's a fairly painless fix. Ugh.

Nooooo. Has it really been 2 years since you got it from SW 😮

That guy in discord said it cost 465 euros for his out of warranty repair 😔

Jokes aside wasn't there a thing where if the power supply touched the metal housing it could short it?
If you are in Finland it’s $150 euro if you allow Doug to atomic wedgie you

Rumours This is what I have heard

Also joking aside I hope they can get you sorted @mbenigni , I also agree you deserve the good luck

Thanks for the well wishes guys. $465 FML. I just spent $210 to get my HX Stomp repaired a few weeks ago - just so I could turn it around and sell it for $400. I’m having a bad run with modelers lately. Is this the universe telling me to buy a MkV? ;)

Yes.

Idk maybe it won't cost that and the guy wasn't telling the whole story. Sounds like they charged a lot for labor 😕 and not to rain more on the parade but it was 465 euros

I've backed off my NDSP hatin' over the last year, but...

iu

If they really deny the warranty repair after repairing hundreds, if not thousands, for the exact same issue, that's fucked. Kinda makes me glad I still have all those screenshots of people reporting their cases of the BLOD, due to being too lazy to delete them all. If I keep seeing reports of them denying a warranty repair for that issue I'll gladly send them over to that KDH dude.

I do hope this is resolved quickly and the same way they resolved every other case of it.

Thanks, man.

To be fair, this one's well out of warranty. It's still more than a little irritating that it died overnight whilst doing absolutely nothing, but... :idk

(P.S. What is a "KDH dude"?)

Well, I wrote NDSP support... and now, we wait. If they want hundreds for a repair, I'm going to be in an awkward situation where I either cough it up or feed a landfill. And the latter option with a device this valuable would be madness. So I don't have a lot of leverage here. :( This is exactly how I felt with the HX Stomp a few weeks ago, except the stakes weren't so high.

More importantly, I'd already decided to move the Stomp, whereas the QCs are the platform I really want to be using. There's nothing to replace them that'll make me as happy. But if I get burned on this repair it's going to be that much harder to trust them going forward.

Fingers crossed they find a way to help you out buddy.

Fix it, and sell it maybe? Small profit is better than throwing it away.

Yeah if it costs you closer to $500 to repair, I'd probably try everything I can to see if I could fix it yourself. In case it's something like "open it up and try to reconnect everything" level stuff.

Personally I expect they are gonna cover it. These days news travels fast, and I don’t expect they (or any company) want to deal with a bad rep of 2 year old units going down.
