Mesa Boogie talking about the possibility of a new TriAxis

That’s awesome, and sounds like this should assuage the moaning and pearl clutching that “Gib-mesa will never do anything new or forward thinking again”
We'll see. I would not be surprised if it's basically a Triaxis without LDRs because the original parts are not available anymore.

So far I don't think there's any Mesa product with poweramp simulation, and slapping a Two Notes embedded board in it is not exactly peak innovation.

If they keep the internal workings the same and improve the UI this could be a very cool re-release. I'm betting they will just make it as close to the original as possible. Doing so would minimize the R&D cost and appease the nostalgia seekers. It is also the Gibson MO.

I mean, based on video it seems a lot more than that is implied but I suppose we'll see :idk

like most everyone, i thought the reissues were a dumb "Gibson" idea that were gonna be a ton of money, but i now know a few recto guys that have had every revision and mod there is and they say the new RI is the best one yet, and the iic+ seems to be pretty well received, and both of them are priced for way lower than i was expecting. if they do some tweaks and put in IR's and whatever, this could be cool ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Keep the 3 levels of functionality, Rhythm, LD1 and LD2? Yes agreed. Keep the internals the same that are on-par with 1991 computers, nah. This is incredibly complex, massive, and very difficult to service:

I have no insider knowledge but I'd think they'd go something more modern like what Friedman / BAD cooked up with the IRX pedal:

Maybe not 100% quite that simple as they'll need a bit more to maintain the full functionality of something like a Triaxis, but I bet it's a simplified modern approach, not a re-issue. I'm the biggest Triaxis fan and I would not buy a re-issue, I want an innovative product from them bearing the Triaxis name.

On a serious note, and I can't believe I am typing this out; I don't know if I need any additional Mesa in my life? You could maybe talk me into another Badlander but I am for all intents and purposes "good". Unless whatever this is turns out to be something I am not expecting knocking my socks off?

If there’s anything I’m NOT interested in from Mesa as a total Mesa fan boy, it’s a digital backend that my otherwise awesome tube preamp is now married to in a climate where that part of the tech is evolving.

Mesa should stick to what they know. Cab clone sounds like shit on a stick.

Agreed on the original Cab Clone, but the Cab Clone IR that's in the Badlander and Mark VII is a Two Notes board and is really good.

It was a poor example on my part in the first place because triaxis wouldn’t need to handle a speaker load. I just feel like anything Mesa stuffs in there will be completely obsolete in 5 years.

It’s technically on brand for them. My 35 year old studio preamp and 25 year old V-Twin rack have useless speaker simulated outs I no longer use. I’d love to see them break the cycle and just leave it to outboard hardware.
