This is super cool, but there's no real videos on it yet I can find other than this short. According to Mesa's FB post on it earlier this week, it's a reimaging of the classic Bass 400, but with a modern small-box enclosure, tube preamp, and I'd assume a class D power amp.

The best feature is the super accessible mute switch. I can just run up to my bassist and stop the noise anytime, and you have to love that Mesa really thought about the rest of us with that feature.

A Recto or a Mark pre with a class D power amp? IDK, I'd have to hear it first.
Yeah…I mean, I’m more or less interested to see what they do with it. I wouldn’t expect it to compete directly against their tube stuff, but it could open options for people trying to have some of those tones without dropping a fortune.

Of course, they may still end up being super overpriced. I really have no clue.

Seems like a really smart addition to their bass amp line. It fits right in a missing “vintage” gap with all the Subway series bass amps.

I would be shocked if Mesa thinks there would be a market for solid state versions of their guitar amps though. This makes a ton of sense from a bass perspective because it’s built on the same basic platform they’ve already got. I bet it uses the same power amp as the subway 800.

You might be right? I’m only speculating.

I could definitely see a V25 or mini recto with a class D.
