I had an LVX for awhile and really liked it, and I’ve been meaning to try the Mercury X for a while. Mine came in this week. In the first few nights with it, I have to say I’m absolutely in love with it not just as a reverb but as a multi-fx processor capable of so much more.
The noise gate is exceptional as I expected. It’s global, but I can set it around 80% or so and it works for keeping my heavy sounds gated and still lets my cleans ring out. Running it in my rack and outputting it to a Mesa 2:90 is simply a glorious sound.
I need to experiment more and see how much I can de-couple the pre-delay from the reverb. I am getting an insanely good lead guitar sound right now with it, but I need to play with it a bit more to get the delays to stand out. I was pleasantly surprised to see competent delay and modulation in this pedal. Along with the excellent compressor options and the ability to juice the sound with the onboard preamp, I’m finding this to be so much more than just an ambient reverb pedal.
Meris is definitely the company I go to now when I need a new and inspiring sound. These pedals are just so unique.
