I’m going to try it for sure, and compare it to the DI from my loadbox into an IR or modeled cab!I was surprised how much I dig the built in cab clone in the V:25

The stock fan in the V:25 is kinda noisy so I replaced it. Dead silent now.

After:
It was quite easy actually, but I take no responsibility if something goes wrong! LolWas that just a simple swap? I'm mechanically inclined but electronically retarded, so I'm not sure what's going on with all those connectors (is that blue wire cut off?). I kinda think my fan is a bit louder than it used to be, as they tend to do, and will probably replace it.
A link to that fan would be great too.![]()

1. Pull amp tray
2. Pull as many preamp tubes as needed to get at the stock fan's two screws
3. Unscrew the stock fan
4. Cut the two wires (red and black) fairly close to the stock fan
5. Strip ends of the the red and black wires coming out of the amp so about 1/8 to 1/4" of bare wire is exposed
6. Cut the connector off of the Noctua fan leaving plenty of wire coming out of the fan
7. Strip the yellow black wires so about 1/8 to 1/4" of bare wire is exposed
8. Connect the red wire from the amp to the yellow wire from the fan; connect the black wire from the amp to the black wire from the fan (I used Wago connectors because I was being lazy; you can just solder them)
9. Put the preamp tubes back in (not sure this is needed yet)
10. Turn on the amp to test that the fan comes on
11. If fan is operational, reassemble and enjoy the silence
THIS is the fan I used
You can’t just steal bullet points from my resumeI'm mechanically inclined but electronically retarded
How did you black out the grill? I meant to ask a while back and forgot lolBut used amps might be acceptable.
I found a Mark Five:25 locally for a decent deal and semi-impulse bought it (I did think about it a little). I'd kinda forgotten how many great tones are in there. I also realized that instead of pulling the custom oversized 2x12 out of the garage I could be lazy and just use the CabClone through the FR-12. I didn't expect much with that setup but my initial impression is really good.

I have a DD-3 laying around and figured I'd just build a small pedalboard around that so I grabbed a tuner, another delay, and was scoping out some reverbs but @FractalAudio and @iaresee , bad influences that they are, made me order a VP-4. Guess the other pedals will get returned!
That was my first WKSmith mod lol. I saw he did it to his FR-12 and I immediately ran out to the store after asking what he did.How did you black out the grill? I meant to ask a while back and forgot lol
It looks so much better in black lolThat was my first WKSmith mod lol. I saw he did it to his FR-12 and I immediately ran out to the store after asking what he did.

I'm particularly fond of how many times the word girth is used in the manual. These people know my language.Low light, candles, bubble bath running... best setting to read a mesa manual
