I’m really tempted… if I hadn’t just bought so many drives I’d be all over it!

Did you get the OG or the newer 5882 chip that was on sale last week? My 5882 is getting here Monday, I gotta get the EJ pickups working without issue in my sunburst Strat by then. I'm going to shoot out the 4 Dover Drives I've got to note the differences.
I've got a Red Dot Zendrive, there was a Black Beauty (which I think is germanium) Zen for sale last week, which I plan on snagging at some point. He just did a tube Zendrive recently, as well.

I got the newer 5882. I am curious how it'll compare to the BKs I have, but I'm sure it'll be its own thing.

I can tell ya now it'ls going to have way more dirt than the BK's. The Dovers recreate the whole EJ tone, or aim to, rather than just the boost portion of it. Comparing them to the PastFX TD7 TD clone, the Drive cranked on that is somewhere around 3 on a Dover.

More gain is not a bad thing.
Although my older 3 knob BK has more gain than his 4-knob brothers too. I used it for years through a Traynor YGM-3 combo (loaded with an EVM12S) and it would burn.

How would the drover be going into a stomp or tonex?

I can't speak for it yet, but my BKs, Fuzz Face or any number of drives are excellent in front of a stomp or AM4, or plugin for that matter.

You should be getting commission for every Dover drive sold. Whenever I've looked the DD up most of the comments or demos are yours

Nice!!! I plan on getting a bit more in depth with the next one and I'll likely stick a mic in front of my Plexi when I do that one. Especially now that my neighbor is gone and the apartment next to me is vacant!
Hell, if Sean wanted I'd gladly make a video for every pedal he makes and all I'd ask for is the pedal itself!

It's more Warren Haynes than Robben Ford. A lot of hair on that one. Not even sure
I would put in the Zendrive territory.
I did a breakdown of the different Zen flavours on TGP many years ago. He did
both lower gain flavours (the White, and the Gold) and higher gain flavours (the
various Red versions and the Black Magick).
I really dig that Sean does so many variations on a theme. He also has gotten
his chops busted for doing that (repackaging the same thing in different colours,
because he has no new ideas sort of thing).
He's been awesome dude, though. Sent me a few pedals back in the day for free
just to check out. Then when I went to send them back he's all, "No! You keep them.
It's my gift to you."
He's done that with so many people over the years.
He also makes the best vintage Fender (non tube-based) amp in a box I have ever
owned/played.
And he builds custom cars/hot rods. Very Jeff Beck/Danny Gatton of him.

I believe it's a Chandler/BK Butler Tube Driver variant.
It can certainly get hairy/fuzzy like a FF. Pretty sure it has
nothing to do with a Zendrive, though.... other than being
designed by Alf Hermida.
To maximize interaction with guitar volume changes and picking
dynamics it is ideal up front, in my experience.
Also fun using it to drive/push other pedals....
