Lovepedal ‘Sale’

What's actually broken? Could it be fixable?
At least one of the pots broke. I don't think they could've made the PCB fit in tighter in the case if they tried. Pretty fucking annoying to remove it, disassemble the footswitches, reassemble them after cleaning small, fiddly parts, put it back together, and a pot breaks off.

That sucks. Might be worth fixing if there's anyone near you who can have a look? Definitely worth selling as parts rather than binning it if you don't feel like paying someone to fix it.

It's already in the kitchen garbage can, so... whatever. My luck and irritation level lately has been really getting on my last nerve.

ie, a guitar on backorder "oh, it'll be two weeks, but it still has to go through customs, etc." Okay, that isn't a "two week timeframe" thing, and you know it, so why even say it. That is more like 4-8 weeks, and I appreciate the BS from Sweetwater, but I'm not stupid. This is of course after 2 weeks of it saying it'd be there around this time frame. I doubt Indonesia/Korea has even shipped them yet.

Got a couple vids shot tonight, I’m going to make a couple moe tomorrow with the Dovers in various setups. I had to get a new phone last weekend and since the newer iphone was dirt cheap due to my plan I snagged that and some new video editing software I can use on both the iPhone and my iPad, these will be my learner vids.

The first two vids I shot were using the Plexi50 as a clean platform, but then I wanted to just have fun and cranked the amp to 8 on the Treble channel, which gets those those getting into some fuzz territories-

Strat w/ EJ pickups- Plexi50-SuhrRL-AxeFX-Logic

First time I play the lick it’s just the amp’s dirt, then I kick on the GE, at the audio gap I switch to the BC558.

First Dover vid is done-

They both sound good, may come down to a feel thing. Fwiw, I always preferred a Ge FF. The older 90's red version I have is currently in non-working form so that will be a later project.
Btw, my Dover drive should be here Friday. :banana

Yeah, there’s not a huge gap between them at all, though I’d say the BC558’s top end would make it much more versatile than the OG Dover.

For now I’m preferring silicon but I’ll be anxious to try everything over time. I know the temperature sensitivity of GE doesn’t thrill me, but I also haven’t played one through a blaring Marshall yet and that can change a lot of things really quickly.

I got curious to plug a Les Paul into a Dover, I never bothered because I assumed the Suhr Aldrich pickup was going to be too hot, but that’s not actually the case. Went and made this video and forgot to press Record in Logic so it’s just the camera audio and unfortunately, you hear the strings a bit more than the actual audio.

A new one has just been adopted into the family...

Just got here, and earlier than expected too. It's smaller and lighter color than I thought it would be though, lol. Gonna give it a whirl soon.

I'm digging the Dover so far. It's its own thing for sure, but it does have that low mid push that a tube driver and FF can do well. Like my Amp50, once you get the gain (bias control) over a certain level, around 3 to 4 o'clock, it gets gnarly and fuzzed out.. and noisier. :grin
The sweet spot for leads is around 12:00 on the gain if running into a slight eod tone, imo. Sustains very well too. Gain all the way down is also nice. My only gripe is the tone control could have a bit more top end available when needed. I feel like that would make it a perfect od/distortion box.

The OD11 is a very useful pedal so far. I’ve only had it for a week or two, but it’s lived on my board the whole time as a boost into a 100w Superlead. It can be mild or mean and handles both equally well while also providing useful volume knob cleanup. I might like it better than my Centura Klone, which is high praise.

I’ve heard good things about this take on the Timmy. Will have to check it out sometime.

Hahahah you likely wouldn’t enjoy the OG Dover then, as it’s got less treble than the BC558. The BC558 I could almost replace my TD-7 with (the PastFX Tube Driver clone) because they cross some paths, not so much with the OG Dover and nothing even close to the GE Dover, which shares more commonality with the EJ Fuzz Face.

I want to grab a real Tube Driver from BK while I can get one from the man himself, though. Likely won’t make it into a rig, but come on, EJ and Gilmour are my top 2 dudes and both rely on the TD for their main thing, it’s silly of me not to have one…..ya know, because all that music I make thats just like EJ and GIlmour. :rofl

Is TD-7 a typo or something else?

Yeah, you should get one. Especially since he's still making them.
It's funny, all the guitarists I really got into back in the day were using a BK in some form at a given time. But I literally had no idea, even after I got my first one in '95, the 3-knobber. EJ, Satch, Gilmour, Gibbons, even Cantrell used one in the studio.
