Good move! Always learn how to do your setup on every guitar you buy. That tele will setup very similar to your Strat. It's not hard, just takes a little patience in the beginning, and a set of luthier tools which you don't have to spend a lot of money on right away. Let us know how it works out.
Look, I’m not attacking you personally or anything. Just saying that Mexican Fenders are consistently good. Epiphone just doesn’t have that track record.
It has gotten a LOT better since about a year after the IBG line was introduced. The first year was a little iffy, but has gotten much more consistent since.
I’ve got lots of various Epiphone SGs and love all of them.
I never made the same connections with my Gibson SGs mainly to do with the necks shapes and thickness.
I’ve got a few excellent Strats but the Tele / Thin line is my every day guitar just to pick up and mess about with .
