Line 6 Helix Stadium

Forget the hype knob, anyone notice how awesome that Plexi sounds at the end! (the other amps sound great as well!)
I almost brought it up yesterday but wanted to listen on better speakers. There’s definitely more bite there than in other clips. The thing that really stands out for me is the dynamic content. There’s a punchy snap/snarl thing there that very much reminds me of my own 1959. I really can’t wait to play these models.

That's very much what I hear too - that snarl. Here's a different Plexi sound which is looser but also killer -

I'm sure with some of the knobs, we can get there.

Reacting with my "shiny new thing goggles on" crew checking in but that Plexi clip is BY FAR the best Marshall sound I've ever heard out of a Helix.
Did you get to spend time with the 2203 prior to purging your stomp? That’s the best L6 Marshall I’ve put my hands on. I cannot wait to hear the Agoura version of that amp. Hopefully it’s the same one they modeled in Hx. One would assume.

I think I sold it prior to that update? The Marshall stuff never tripped my trigger at all. Once I started using the JVM in the FAS stuff especially.

I’ll put it this way. I was in the process of breaking up with Helix when that 2203 came out and it turned me around in my tracks. Possibly the best 800 sim I’ve experienced period.

FAS JVM is S-tier for sure, but the 2203 in Helix is in the same room, no glazing. It's REALLY solid, and once you stick an SD-1 in front, it's prettay, prettay close to the OD1 JVM sounds (which tracks because Marshall made that channel to be a hot-rodded JCM800).

The Line 6 Voltage original model they did for Catalyst and brought over to Helix around the same time is also reaaaaally good Plexi/JCM800 hybrid, and it has a FAS-like built-in boost parameter that adds a tube stage in front for some nice snarl. Similarly, you put an SD-1 in front of the boosted Voltage and it sounds incredible. Those and the Bogner Ectasy are pretty much the only Marshall sounds I use on Helix.

That Plexi is the best amp clip I have yet heard from the Stadium, by quite a way.

The Fenders sound fantastic to my ears. As far as I'm concerned, they really nailed it on that front.

The 2203 also sounds excellent in all the clips I've heard. I think all the amps sound exactly like I'd expect them to. The Soldano on the present Helix I think is excellent - like 1-1 with the amp. I don't know if they modeled a different SLO for the Stadium, it sounds a little different. We'll see.

All this talk on Marshall style amps and I don't know how no one has brought up the Park 75 yet - that is a killer sounding amp on the present Helix. I really hope that they model this amp in a soon to follow update.

TBF; I don't use any of the classic Marshalls in the FAS :bag JVM for Marshalls and that's it. I'll never break up with my FM whatever but there's room in my gear life always :rofl

I would never reach for an original model on anything but a Boss. I didn't buy a modeler that supposed to give me "every amp under the sun" just to grab some original model from someone with ears I might not trust :bag:roflIt's cool to have those options available. From the sounds of it; I might "know" 2025 sooner rather than 2026 later since I ordered from MF. Maybe?

Ha- I tend to be the same way. I need to force myself to try the “originals” this time around. But typically I stick to the classics merely because I never had a chance to play them before - so now I get to enjoy them in all their glory (warts and all). And it’s fun getting to know the different characteristics of each.

I'm primarily interested in real amps...but don't mind trying originals every now and then...sometimes they come out with something that has a unique feel which is always nice. But in the end, I mostly stick with real amps because there's something in them that I like ... including the warts that make them what they are.

I stumbled upon those Catalyst models more than anything else, but they really shouldn't be overlooked. When you get your Stadium, I think you would dig the hell out of the Oblivion. @2112 certainly did:

Personally, I actually happen to prefer the Voltage. Kinda simillar but easier to deal with for me.
The L6 originals are great. I tend to stick to maybe a dozen models of circuits I know, own, or have had first hand experience. The Hx 2203 does a solid impression of my 2204, so that’s one of the places I tend to live when I’m using Helix.
