Line 6 Helix Stadium

There are so many variables between when given player hits some set of strings on some guitar and whatever you are listening back on that the idea that you can tell anything other than yep that's a guitar tone seems ridiculous to me for some reason.
Some guy at Guitar Summit casually mentioned how he didn't like the sound of a Stadium video released that very day. I said "Cleary you haven't had access to a good playback system today, so were you listening on AirPods or something?" He sheepishly admitted to listening to his phone's speaker. :facepalm

YouTube clips are a necessary, but ultimately worthless evil.

That high gain video was solid. Definitely picking up a more realistic sense of weight in those big power chords, and there’s solidity in those palm mutes that I def am not getting from current gen.

I guess that’s one of those terms that doesn’t translate….. ‘medium’ over here is a term for a psychic hence me asking if the hot tub was in the room with you now when you said you were a medium. I was trying a standard dad-joke, not suggesting you’ve got an account at Wendy’s :)
Translates just fine. :D

Me standing on stage: oooh, bestest creaming/gooey tones ever
Me listening to the desk recording: wtf .. that sounds like someone using a violin bow on a big metal trash can
Me talking to someone in the audience: dude I couldn't hear your guitar hardly at all

If they was the case I'd use a real amp and that's not really an option for most the lives gigs I play. Actually currently every steady gig I'm involved with require a DI solution/no amp.

Just use a real cab - 95% of your complaints would go away. With a modeler you have perfect volume control as well as your selection of amps as well as power amp saturation. You can get 1-2 lightweight cabs for variety and that's all you need. DV Mark even has 4x12s that weigh almost nothing - if you don't like the speakers, swap out for some Celestion Neos.

Otherwise, keep complaining.

The thing you quoted literally says some these gigs require a no-cab/DI-only solution, lol.

Fun tidbit for the high-gain clip: All of the tones were dialed in by Line 6's Igor Solarsky. Pretty remarkable because he really nailed their usual tonal tendencies.

Many places have a no amp/cab statement because they're used to super loud amps and are trying to bring down stage volumes. They simply don't know any better.

If you can convince them that you can stay within (or much lower than) the output level of an acoustic drumset, a cab will work and is a million times better than any IEM or FRFR. I've played this way for a long time - I send an IR signal to FOH.

Now if it's completely silent stage - then, yes, nothing can be done. Might as well play an audio track at that point. No drummer wants to touch an electronic drumset if they can help it so many of these so called 'silent stages' have acoustic drumsets.

I find the tone cork sniffing amusing. There are so many variables between when given player hits some set of strings on some guitar and whatever you are listening back on that the idea that you can tell anything other than yep that's a guitar tone seems ridiculous to me for some reason.

Anyhow, all of todays modelers and cloners sound amazing. If you can't get something you like out of them it seems more about user disconnect than anything actually wrong with the piece of hardware and its ability to generate a guitar tone. I'm just looking for something that provides the least friction between the guitar and the amp/cab/pa. Stadium seems a logical step forward in both simplicity and complexity. Choose how deep down the rabbit hole you want to go.

Can you repeat this every 50 posts or so? Thank you for your service.
