Line 6 Helix Stadium

Good variety of styles in this one and for the high gain folks go to the Revv at the end :)

Not my favourite tones in this one like the Twin Essex but the Plexi and Revv were kind of dark although I am sure that’s a quick fix with a couple of turns of the EQ
Also can I just say the coil taps on every player on the internet is getting out of hand
It like the new “wah abuse “

I thought the REVV Purple was perfect once the Horizon Drive kicked in.

Was frustrated with the Plexi because every demonstration declines to play chords or crank everything, just like with the coil tapping.

I had you down as a Medium

‘Is the hot tub in the room with us now’?

Sorry Tim - couldn’t resist and hope I’m forgiven :)
Guess it depends on the shirt if it’s a compression shirt, I guess more of a medium but if it’s one of those cotton teas, which are usually oversize a little small is the best

Euge Valovirta. Love his uber-European style. Guy just released a Helix preset pack, in fact.

EDIT: It's still super slimy, tho', especially considering that it's a much bigger financial burden for Klon to defend their IP than it is for B£#®!n&€® to just shrug and change their silkscreen.

It's even slimier that there's now some scalpers trying to sell the pre-namechange OG B£#®!n&€® Klon for 2k or so. That's as low as you can get. But then, anyone buying it at that price is possibly deserving no better.

I guess that’s one of those terms that doesn’t translate….. ‘medium’ over here is a term for a psychic hence me asking if the hot tub was in the room with you now when you said you were a medium. I was trying a standard dad-joke, not suggesting you’ve got an account at Wendy’s :)

Although I posted this clip, I only managed to listen so far at minimum volume on an iPad…. I’ll try them with my studio monitors later on.

I’m guessing part of the Focus View ethos was to create 5 places for each amp and effect that sound good / as described and for the one it defaults to in the middle to be a middle of the road (for that amp) useable sound. That must have taken a lot of discussion and meetings - because it’s not just a preset, it’s ’what do we want this one to sound like if you turn on the amp and do nothing’. So I’d guess those ‘focus in the middle’ tones have had a lot of opinions to get them to something decent *to most people’s ears*. Most of the content out there till now seems to just dial up an amp in the centre position and go for it and I haven’t heard anything so far using that approach that I haven’t enjoyed so, for me, those committee meetings worked :)

Although he played with focus, to get his core tones it seemed like he kept the focus in the middle and made his own changes / added a stomp box - he mentioned cuts, cabinet adjustments etc so these were very much ‘his taste’ so it’s not surprising these have not been as well received as he’s moving away from the defaults which will either make sense to your ears or it won’t. It doesn’t mean that any of the amps with stadium are bad….

With the coil taps, I’m with you. I’ve never had a guitar with a tap where I liked the single coil approximation more than I liked any other guitar with an actual single coil. Maybe I’ve just been unlucky with this. If I was stuck with a single guitar then I’d absolutely be grateful for it but if I’ve got a choice, I’ll take the choice.

Didn't love those tones. They all sound somehow too lean. Like the Essex model with the Pacifica bridge humbucker somehow manages to sound almost like a Tele bridge single coil? And the Revv sound seems to have plenty of bass dialed in but still sounds pretty thin too.

I’ve now had a listen with more volume….. guessing his personal taste takes him that way. The bass player will surely like him as he’s staying completely out of that lane :)

Might be. That Vox sound seems to have treble almost maxed but bass still at 3.5 which should have some beef to it. I wonder if some output EQ is at play.

I have to say, much as I love Line 6 (I own a Helix and some Variaxes), those tones weren't groundbreaking. Not much better than the Helix amps, and certainly no better than my Axe FX III's amp tones. Hoping some better demos come about soon.
