Line 6 Helix Stadium

The Fractal workflow and limitations and reliance on being connected to a computer make me want to sell it at the moment.
Im with you there. I have an FM9 and FM3. Ive preordered the stadium XL and plan to sell both off once an actual release date is near.

love the Fractal stuff. I think it sounds amazing and when you have time to craft your sounds with a computer and take them on the go, or use it for recording its top of the heap.

However, thats only some of my use case. I come from more of the camp that presets get stale and repetitive (I dont play covers, or when I do Im not trying to be a carbon copy) . I always have used pedalboards and I like to be able to twist knobs to find new sounds, swap a pedal in or out, or throw a few on the floor and make a signal chain without needing a computer. Sure, you CAN do that on Fractal but it certainly isnt an enjoyable experience, major vibe and creativity killer.

From all the demos Ive seen with the Stadium it looks pretty damn painless to just get an idea for a signal chain and have it up and running in a minute or two. I like that idea a lot. I had a QC and it was nice too but there were other things that didnt gel with me and I sold it. This product seems to have certainly ticked all the boxes.

This feels a bit like the IIC+ reissue release in that there seems to be some kind of anti-chugging force field around this thing that will apparently undo the universe if we get a decent god damn high gain clip.

I’m sure that gets rectified (:rofl) in time but I want it now.

Don't get me wrong, I think the Axe3 sounds phenomenal. But others are catching up in a big way, and these days, it is just flavour difference a lot of the time. Not all of the time, but a lot of the time.

Where I get annoyed with the Axe3 is putting together chains on the device, or having to be connected to a laptop to browse block presets, or wanting to a/b various different types of halls say, and having to just jump through hoops and programming channels or alternative blocks to do it, when really I just wanted to change the underlying type and keep all of my filters and time values the same; etc etc.

It's just a bit old skool in its approach. Which isn't wrong. I can certainly grok it when I am at a computer. But most of the time I play guitar to get away from computers and complexity.

There are a kabillion smart phone screen protectors that don’t impede touch screen use at all that I’m sure will be available for those paranoid about perfectly thrown beer bottles.

I would have liked a direct signal feed instead of a "recording of a FRFR" cab / monitor.

Amen. The sound simply sucks IMO. Sure, with a bit of imagination and knowledge of the OG Helix amps, you might be able to imagine how things would sound recorded properly, but seriously, as a YTer with close to 1 million followers, I'd expect the guy to have a better recording solution with him, allowing him to record both a mic and an additional line feed.

Just that none of them will help at all with the impact of a thrown beer bottle. Or a falling mic stand (a lot more likely).

At least one studio clip is already recorded. Line 6's marketing department is just reveling in the tears of the forums and comments sections as they withhold it each Thursday.

While I've wait, I've realized that the 4x12 Cartographer (C90/Eminence Governor) is an amazing high gain cab, and I've been dialing the existing REVV Purple channel to perfection on it. I might even prefer it slightly to the Badonk, which is high praise.

I like that they dialed in a few tones in real time. I was not particularly impressed with the EVH tone that they dialed in, but that has more to do with the choices they made effects wise rather than representing limitations of the unit. The onboard cab / mic combinations sound very good.

a little late to the party :)
