Line 6 Helix Stadium

Why would we think this? Why wouldn't a Proxy "profile" of an amp be an Agoura amp under the covers that had all of its parameters set by the profiling process?
Because a proxy or “clone” is like a “single representation” of that amp with a specific set of parameters dialed in. It’s like it’s “static”. But the model has to be able to represent a myriad of parameter changes on the fly. It’s “dynamic”.

Which one would require more processing power? Representing an amp at one particular setting? Or a model that has to compute and represent thousands of permutations of those possible settings?

A very simplistic way of thinking about them. And I could be wrong. But that’s why I think that.

Only one setting operates at a time. There is no load involved in the other potential settings when they are not active. The extra work is in the programming, not the operation.

While I would kinda tend to think so as well, in daily life HQ NAM captures are consuming quite some CPU power.
OTOH, the Quad Cortex seems to be doing fine running several captures simultaneously, from all I know they're using up less CPU than some of their own amp models.

My apologies if this is known info. The Stadium Floor XL will be my first L6 device.

How will the Stadium support vocals? While this is not top priority for me, I've never been satisfied with how the QC handles it. During gigs my vocalist deals with his own gear. When practicing at my house we run his mic through the QC. It feels jury rigged. For example, if I want an output control to mix his vocals I need to add an EQ block and then use the output from the EQ block. How will the Stadium UI manage this? Will there be any vocals-specific blocks?

Thanks in advance!
I’m not DI and don’t have a Line 6 product myself yet (other than a demo licence of Native) so please take my reply within the context of me being new here too! But my understanding with that in mind is as follows.

If you look at their latest video on the official Line 6 YouTube channel they posted this week on routing, it indicates you can have four different inputs processed at once and mixed as you wish. One of those inputs is the vocal mic. You can use fx on any of the inputs in any order - there are vocal preamps in there so this sounds like a decent step up from your current solution.

If you haven’t already, maybe get a demo licence of Helix Native - I did that a week or so back to try and better understand the ecosystem and although it weirded me out at first I was creating my own patches pretty quickly without reading a manual so that’s a good indication that it’s pretty intuitive IMO.

The "Studio Tube Preamp" can even be found in the current series already, but it could surely do with an advanced version, maybe a kinda feature reduced channel strip.

Because that’s not how any current profile technologies work under the hood. Ignoring the old Kemper approach which is different, the machine learning capture tech in QC, NAM, and Tonex are not even remotely close to component modeling. They look at the amp in totality to calculate signal in vs signal out. A component modeling system looks at each stage of the amp bit by bit.

I think that whatever the L6 Proxy System is ....... I think it would be very smart if it allowed users to load their own Standard NAM Captures natively-without-conversion ie: 2 options.

I'm so much looking forward to Stadium getting some vocals-specific blocks too. Harmonizer with formants, vocal enhancer, de-esser... I would so much love getting rid of my VE500 and having everything in one box.

I think that would be an incredibly stupid approach. Why would Line6 benefit from the duplication of development efforts plus the performance hit of running native NAM?

Even if native NAM does slightly better in some YouTubers null tests, that’s not going to be the reason anyone buys a Stadium or Stadium XL. It’s all cost and no upside.

Offerings like this should be forbidden. Being curious about european asking prices, I found a shop from the Netherlands:

Staium_NL_Preorder.jpg

Nowhere does it say that this is just the preorder-deposit, the final asking price isn't announced, either, and there's also a whole lot of other misinformation or information not matching the picture ("12 OLED scratch strips" for starters).

But then, even Anderton's isn't telling the final asking price. I mean, they could as well just ask 3k for it, you wouldn't accept and they'd keep your deposit.

Not to play devil's advocate, but they likely don't even know yet.

And yet, selling preorders without not even knowing how much the product will go for is icky.

Andertons will refund your deposit if you decide not to go ahead with the order.
I phoned them before putting my deposit down. My understanding is they’ll contact me when it’s actually available for order and I can either give them the balance or have my £99 back. I guess that’s the only sensible way to do it when the U.K. price isn’t clear. Exchange rates are always a bit of an unknown but with the situation now but there’s further price fluctuations on a daily basis for other reasons these days. I have no clue how you could begin to guess how much these will be outside the USA.

Exchange rate is nice from pounds to dollars right now in the U.K. so I’m hopeful they don’t go the £1=$1 route which so often seems to hit us here. Especially when I’ve seen folks on this thread preordering from US stores with 20% off the stated dollar price due to a coupon.

This is why I'm just going to be patient, wait it out, and not get into all the pre-order stuff.
I haven’t bought anything digital fx or amp-wise in 12-13 years which is probably enough to have me evicted from this forum - as it’s been a while, the Stadium XL has got me genuinely excited.

It takes as long as it takes but, the way I’m feeling now, I’d like one as soon as possible.

To be honest, I've been sitting out and not diving in too deep with all the new features/scenarios. Maybe that's a good thing? :rofl
If I wasn't mostly content with my current HX gear it could be different story. I think once it hits the market my excitement could escalate.
