Line 6 Helix Stadium

Helix already supports 4 stereo paths, they are just assigned 2 to each DSP.
Wait, do you mean the parallel paths can be converted to independent paths? Lol, I didn't know🤣 Will try to figure out how to do it later today or tomorrow.

That's great news. It means I should be able to assign one of the paths to the microphone (where I would only use delay, reverb or harmony, so not too much DSP usage in theory) and the other three to guitar.

Yes! This video doesn’t show moving the split to beginning of path 1b but it essentially works the same as picking your outputs in the paths:

I do this all the time to run a dedicated path for the mic but still using both dsps for a more complex guitar signal path (multiple amps/stereo delays/reverbs etc.

I recommend throwing a comp and tube mic pre on the mic path as well 😉

I found this video about how to create the 4 parallel paths. Now I know why I never knew this was possible, it's almost hidden xD

Can't do it in my Helix LT, but I'm happy I'll be able to use it on the Stadium. Although I'll need some vocals dedicated effects to actually use it.

@Digital Igloo

Someone in the NAM fb community commented something under a post re: stadium...
"...a unit that makes profiles only through the cloud? This means that it becomes a live service, so once they shut down the server this thing won't make them anymore."

I wonder if Line 6 will consider also providing a local option for training?
Eg. connect Stadium to a pc or mac (using usb / wifi) and then a training app can take care of training.

Maybe it’s been covered here but I just read that all of the effects in the new Helix are legacy HX effects. No new gen ones at all. Nada.

That is disappointing to me. I’d love to see some really lush new reverbs pushing boundaries here. Maybe in the future, maybe not.

DI said in an interview that the effects that have been created for the Stadium have already been added to the Helix - because they can and will continue to update the effects in the Helix when possible.

Here's the best way to think about it:

We have been making a bunch of new effects while developing Stadium. Except they also happen to work in Helix/HX boxes (and most in POD Go), so we already gave them to everyone, without having to make everyone wait until this fall.

All depends on your perspective. I was more unhappy with the reverbs than with the amp models.

I know people rag on the helix amp models compared to the fractal, but for the ones I use the difference isn’t so dramatic. And the Helix has one amp model that I think is better than the similar fractal ones. Don’t get me wrong, on the whole the fractal amps are undeniably better overall. But I wasn’t unhappy with the helix amps for what I was doing.

Maybe they’ll get around to using that extra horsepower for some better reverbs in the future. Fortunately, I’ve got an FM9 that is killer so if they never do I’m fine. I do miss some things about Helix though, if the reverbs get there I’ll definitely pick up an XL.

D

I find the Dynamic reverbs cover pretty much everything I want including the spacey, Strymon-like joints.

I can't imagine Line 6 are going to just leave it at that.
I hope not. But I am tired and wary of partial launches with things promised for the future.

I want a complete product that surprises me with firmware updates that deliver unexpected and surprising additions. Not filling a backlog of previous promises.

Read the firmware notes of the lowly Amp Academy for an example of how it can be done.
