Line 6 Helix Stadium

Dammit, I'm not in on this one...

This is pure speculation, but when Line6 says "signal chain cloning" with Proxy, are we talking about feeding the engine a signal chain in another unit or a recording and having it duplicate that in Helix? Because holy crap. I could see using AI to do something like that.

I think they mean capturing amps with (dirt?) pedals in front, and speaker cabs after. I doubt they can capture all effects, but they don't have to.

can’t you get close with the current XTC model?

EDIT: The Helix XTC Red Channel sounds a bit fucked/broken to me. It makes a ton of noise unless you crank the bias up, and it sounds blown out/incorrect at normal settings IMO.

Look at the output meters with absolutely no input at all. There's a load of noise being generated by the amp that is related to the bias setting

No I cannot get that tone or not easily
And according to comments it’s a Suhr RL but he is using Ownhammer IRs on all his clips

I don’t there are a few guys I trust like a Blake Mansfield
Zach Wish , Leon Todd
Brett Kingman all seem to wrangle out great tones

People can wrangle out great tones for sure, but it is their setup and their playing going through their recording and processing, YouTube's compression, and my playback setup. At that point even the best done comparison video doesn't really doesn't tell me how two different pieces of gear are going to compare when in my hands. You can get a basic idea at best, but the subtleties are lost, and art this generation, I expect differences to be subtle.

I reckon the model is completely broken tbh. The poweramp sounds like it's out of headroom no matter what settings.

IMO that tone sounds great mostly because of Blake's playing and then a bit of delay and reverb. If you drag it into a DAW and compare it to some album tones I don't think it sounds great, it's quite dark. It's pretty easy to beat IMO. I dig Blake's videos a lot, and when I watch on my phone I always think they sound killer. And then as soon as I compare in a DAW I realise it's just his killer playing and me watching through a crappy speaker that is helping it along. Same kind of goes for Zach too, they're just killer players with excellent technique.

I was going to dial something in on Helix for you but it sounds too broken to be able to do it.

Another contender for Kemper MK2 is coming!

I’m sure it’s gonna kill. Hopefully they can find away to make floor pedal that’s slightly more robust than the VP4 form but not as god-awful bulky as the FM.

Shots fired!

Who wouldn't be expecting as much? Cliff is very aware at who else is in the market, what they're doing and is not afraid to be vocally and operationally competitive.

I love that about the man. That being said.... I'm not getting a great feeling that he's talking firepower when the needle that needs to be moved with Fractal is efficiency and usability.

I have a OG, non-turbo FM9 and whatever processing power is there has been more than enough for me for quite awhile. It's the other stuff I want him to work on....
