Is hype just Soothe 2 + Comp?
it's a one knob hype(ass) / low pass
Is hype just Soothe 2 + Comp?
The Hype knob is pretty much customized for each amp, and is not meant to be a magic bullet. Depending on the amp and amp settings, some people who've tried it land on 5.0-6.0, others at 2.0-3.0, some leave it off. At 10.0, it's generally overkill, except when certain amps' settings make it really subtle. Is hype just Soothe 2 + Comp?
Good thing I responded to Tim before I posted this exact quote and gif.![]()
I f’n love that you actually did the Hype knob. I thought that was just a pie-in-the-sky/joke.The Hype knob is pretty much customized for each amp, and is not meant to be a magic bullet. The real question is;
Next generation models with a genuine sense of improvement or lipstick on a pig?
Do you really view L6 modeling as pig worthy?
Ive got less that zero problems with personal preferences re: sound / tone / feel .... its all good.
Ive got less than zero problems if people much prefer one brand over another ... its all good.
But f.f.s ... this is to my mind the single biggest modeler announcement of the last 10 years, and this is your question/comment ? Helix modeling is a Pig ?
I mean ... f*ck .... I know this is a very open and liberal forum, but that's just totally f*cking embarrassing.
Yeah it's certainly up there (I can't think of anything that pushed the field more at the moment).this is to my mind the single biggest modeler announcement of the last 10 years
That's perfectly understandable. I don't think any platform's next-gen modeling is going to blow Fractal out of the water, nor do I think the reverse is true either. The FM9 is a stupidly capable and well-made piece of gear, and it has also been great-sounding, reliable and easy to use live (one I put in the work beforehand using Axe-Edit at home) for me too.
But in my ownership of Helix hardware, Quad Cortex and (currently) Tonemaster Pro, I've truly been convinced that user experience and just plain fun operating it matters.
Black. Obviously.what is the objectively "correct" or "right" shade of Blue ...
If Line6 can demonstrate that they've achieved parity with FAS and they also have the significantly more intuitive UI then they have made a total winner.
This is the real rub. They can each never be better than the other simply because Amps are differnet.
I would guarantee you that if you put L6's real AC30, Twin and Plexi -next- to Fractals real AC30, Twin and Plexi and set the same setting on each, they are going to each sound anywhere from differnet to a lot differnet.
So they are modeling and recreating "different" Amps ... that's just an unavoidable reality of such crude, 70 year old analog tech.

I don’t know. The whole showcase thing seems like a gimmick and the showcase thing I wish they would leave that off. It seems like it’ll be more problems Jack of all trades master of none kinda thing???
Tim I love ya man , but your going to have to work with me here , I think I speak for everyone when I say WTF is Belt tronics
Here's some perspective for you-
That video is 13 years old and the content running Garageband on an iPhone4. I don't know if they had automation available on it then but I know they were doing it 6 years ago, so if outdated iPhone can run multiple tracks of audio and VST, accept/send MIDI, automate effects/volume/EQ, I'm quite certain an app written by Line 6/Yamaha group in 2025 could pull it off just fine.
As for the stem splitter, there are websites that do it for free now using AI and there's sites you can pay for that'll do high quality splitting-
I think it's safe to say Line 6/Yamaha has the resources to pull this off. Especially considering Eric's reply to my hopes for the ability to alter the speed of songs in Showcase and how it currently sacrifices the audio quality, I'm going to assume that there's a barrier they won't drop below if they're going to put it on this.
If you can't see the usability of some of these features, I don't even mean this in a dickish way, but I'm going to assume you have little experience outside jamming in the house. And even IF jamming at home is your thing, one of the most highly requested features is some kind of way to play audio through a modeler so people could jam along with songs, being able to remove all the guitars in your favorite songs to jam with at home, while your fancy pedalboard switches all your effects, I'm sure there's going to be more than one dude standing in front of a mirror when a solo section comes up and the wife isn't home so they can really crank the lead preset.
From a live performance perspective, that thing is fucking nuts.
