Line 6 Helix Stadium

When you put it that way...

Maybe the XL should have been called the Helix Stadium and the non-XL the Helix Studio?

In any case, no. "Stud" is right out. Stadium. ;)

Yeah, I actually like the Stadium name, and the "Stadium Floor" pun lol, but the XL part makes it sort of clumsy imo.

I wonder if they'll carry on the HX vs Helix distinction for the inevitable smaller Stadium (HX Club lol)

For myself I dont rellay need or would use a touchscreen,im also not really into captures
But i do like the following

* Focus Feature seems to be a time saver but only if it works on the Editor which i imagine it should
* More CPU and blocks
* Smaller foot print, but not really an issue
* Youg new platform with lots to grow on

It doesn't really excite me. I am happy with what I have (Axe-FX III and FM9). While the feature set looks like it will be industry leading and innovative, I don't find the currently announced new features to be things that I'd personally use. Innovation and fierce competition are great for moving the industry forward, so I do applaud that and I look forward to seeing how Line6 develops the product down the line.

A big component of it for me is that I've invested a lot of time into learning the Fractal ecosystem. The FAS gear has proven to be great sounding, reliable, and easy to use live (excellent foot switching capabilities). If I'm going to have to learn how to use another platform there would need to be a non-trivial payoff in terms of audio quality or features that I intend to use. I haven't been convinced that the HX Stadium will offer a significant improvement in terms of what matters while actually playing the guitar. Perhaps the actual product launch will convince me to get onboard once they start to release walkthroughs of the features and we get to hear / see what it can do.

That's perfectly understandable. I don't think any platform's next-gen modeling is going to blow Fractal out of the water, nor do I think the reverse is true either. The FM9 is a stupidly capable and well-made piece of gear, and it has also been great-sounding, reliable and easy to use live (one I put in the work beforehand using Axe-Edit at home) for me too.

But in my ownership of Helix hardware, Quad Cortex and (currently) Tonemaster Pro, I've truly been convinced that user experience and just plain fun operating it matters. These ecosystems with easier UIs, cloud-based infrastructure and touchscreens make using this stuff so much more fun. What yesterday's prezzie showed me is that Line 6 is laser-focused on flying forward in those areas, while Cliff doesn't even seem particularly interested in UI/efficiency tweaks to the current hardware - which is perfectly fine.

But that's something I've begrudgingly agreed to live with to enjoy the superpowers of the Fractal library in that great FM9 hardware. What Stadium appears to be doing is saying why not enjoy all of the benefits of all of the current flagships PLUS a vision for how to do it all smarter and more efficiently while also supercharging how you practice or craft tones at home?

I wonder with microSD if Stadium can be a backline staple. Show up to a fly gig with a microSD, request Stadium, all your presets, backing tracks ready to go.

I wonder if convolution reverb will make it? Is that table stakes now?

I couldn't care less about capturing tbh, but the fact that HXS will be able to train Proxy captures in the cloud while you use your device for something else, and download them automatically once finished, is really impressive.

The ToneJunkies of the world are going to go apeshit over this.
Is that gonna be free forever? Because...that won't be cheap to run with enough users.
