I had a chance to buy one at a pretty good price, but somebody else scooped it up
No shit?

It’s the perfect observation to have when sitting in a hotub mulling over your preorder. It seems the speech recognition AI is becoming sentient and being mean![]()
You have Fractal right? Try those Train Wrecks.I think if one owns the helix or the new stadium or the fractal units that there’s so many amps in there already that tweaking them could probably get you close to other amps
My personal favorite am I’ve played in. My life is a train wreck. I know there’s a different versions and I don’t remember what version it was. I didn’t own it of course but this was many years ago. I had a chance to buy one at a pretty good price, but somebody else scooped it up, but I did get to play it a bunch of times and the dynamics were amazing in it and I see that some of these modeling manufacturers have a version of train wreck in there, which I haven’t really playedbut when I get my stadium XL I think it might have a pretty good one in there to try at least
Omg that came out wrong. HahahaIt seems the speech recognition AI is becoming sentient and being mean![]()

Why bother? There’s no benefits of working hard to try to like NDSP. Especially if you are already happy with Helix.
I’ve found the SLO models to be kinda all over the map. The HQ Soldano on my Hotone is nice but it has Clean, Crunch and Lead choices. The Soldano in my NUX Amp Academy is not something I really like. It’s not due to it being a completely inferior modeler IMO because I dig the Uber and Friedman on it. It makes me wonder if I’d even like the real thing. I do respect what has been accomplished on it on a few recordings though.

I can't tell if you're a young guy, old guy, French, American, African, British - can't tell.
Tim, are you a native english speaker? What country are you based out of?

FWIW, I too had a chance to play a Trainwreck Express once at Ultrasound studios in NYC. It was everything I ever wanted an amp to be - warm, raunchy, aggressive, melodic....all at the same time...truly the king of guitar amps....in such a simple circuit.
To this day, if someone gives me the money to get any amp that I want - I'm first getting a Trainwreck and that a Dumble that I like (although a Fuchs ODS is a good stand-in for me).
I've always been curious about the Z-Wreck and Z-Wreck Jr. I've played quite a few Zs but not the Wrecks. Really wonder what they're like.
The Kuykendall videos are still the ones that remind me of everything I love about Wrecks. They are truly some of the most special amps on this planet.
Another good video -

Jim That's what I always though...esp. with the dog pic and some of the language....but sometimes I wonder. What an enigma!
I have NO idea why people have such a hard time tweaking their amp sounds. That's the fun part!
All I do is plug in, turn a few knobs and it sounds great. That said, I'll admit that it can be a chore with IRs and FRFR etc.
Most times, I'm just going into a nice guitar cab with IR and cab modeling disabled and it's SO easy to get a great sound in minutes...even seconds.
I’ve been used to Kemper workflow for years and although you can of course make your own sound, you’re starting with someone else’s idea of what a particular amp and cab combo should sound like (unless you’re using your own profiles). I’ve typically bought commercial profiles and I suppose part of that user experience is buying into the concept that someone else with golden ears is making a perfect capture. Part of me quite liked this - I’ve owned a few actual amps over the years but if you look at the sheer number of models in the Helix? My thoughts were that I’d be hard pressed to get the best out of most of them due to lack of direct experience. I’m probably not alone having the ‘someone else making the perfect capture’ idea stuck in my head as a good thing - I did try profiling my Matamp but it sounded bloody awful. I was told it was a ‘difficult amp’ - maybe that was it but probably my lack of experience with profiling. Whatever, I stuck with buying commercial profiles / using rig exchange / factory profiles. It’s easy if you know what you’re after and, more importantly, how to achieve it. Knowing which amp, which speakers, and how to dial it all in requires a bit of experience and can be frustrating if you don’t have that experience.
